Now that people are unravelling the secrets of defeating the Slayer even in a straight fight (to say nothing of abusing the new elements in TCB), I think it's time for a new version of the Slayer with improved AI. Having done a little work on understanding and abusing the Purple One's AI myself, I volunteer to help test for weaknesses and find solutions.

If this is not going to be an official feature any time soon, this would probably make a good (if huge) project for the community to undertake with scripting. Can we get a yea or nay from TPTB on whether new Slayer AI is in the works?

Because you can cheat through a large number of existing Slayer rooms by abusing his flaws? Flaws that are mostly too obscure to be used in real puzzles... Of course, we wouldn't be changing the existing Slayers, but making an improved version that works how the original was supposed to.

I'm still not getting how you could create anything like the wisp with normal scripting, though.

I'd prefer scripting, if it's possible to do things like "if (x,y) is a hot tile, then".

If there's going to be a new and improved slayer that takes the new elements into account, as well the classic flaws that existed in JTRH, IMO it should be made into a new monster, and not take the place of the generic slayer. TCB's wannabe slayers work just fine as they are, and from what I read on The Stack it seems there's a place past the third gate in TCB where you actually get to fight several at once, which I don't think would play out nearly as well if their inherent flaws were fixed.

in fact, I think it's still fairly possible to create new rooms that don't contain easy methods of Slayer killing which are also good fun.

I for one would like a new slayer that knew how to use all the elements, but didn't necessarily opt out of having the flaws he had back in JTRH.
