If this were implemented at all, I'd like to have it stick with the traditional 45 degrees. Also, it should rotate monsters, specifically guards.
However, while it does add a new set of methods for killing monsters (and new ways for Beethro to be killed by them), this violates the "
one move per turn"
rule that is close to set in stone.
Some questions that arise are: Does Beethro kill two monsters, if the orientation is right? How can a rotating square be reasonably displayed? What if a serpent moves on it? What layer would it belong to? And, does it really add the sort of puzzle potential DRODders want?
Personally, I don't like the idea, because it violates the 1 move per turn. That's one of the big things DROD is about, the others being logical deductions and "
Guy with big sword kills stuff"
. I generally frown upon speed boosts (or hindrances), randomness, and alternate weapons.
