Radiant, I have a question. What determines a teleporter's destination when none of them in a level are blocked? I found in the editor that the teleporters link themselves, and you can't "rewire" them. In that case, what determines their behavior? Thanks!

SubTerra teleporters work exactly like Chip's Challenge teleporters except that the game checks the tiles in opposite order.

When the player enters the teleporter (TT) the game begins checking all squares in the level in the order shown above. If it encounters a teleporter, it checks if the teleporter is blocked. If the teleporter is available, the player moves to it. Otherwise the game keeps checking for other teleporters and eventually returns to the beginning if no available teleporters were found.

Also, check an interesting Chip's Challenge level "Level 138: Partial Post" in the original levelset.

Yep. And being blocked goes by direction (if you enter a teleporter to the left, expect to leave it to the right). If the right side of every teleporter is blocked, you will bounce back where you came from (or, if that is somehow not possible, explode)

I love watching people play Vertigo, btw. It's so easy if you know what you're looking for, and so completely baffling if you do not.

That one on chips challenege with that...Erm...about 5 years since I completed that game...Cypher? Like Vertigo, and it confuzzled me greatly because it doens't show you where you are moving from and to like on subterra.

Partial Post in C&C is the level with many teleporter rooms and a huge amount of blocks in one of the rooms that have to be used to block every teleporter.

The other level you speak of is Chips Challenge Level 25 : Blink. The SubTerra level Vertigo is almost a copy of that level.

Radiant, you put a really mean time limit on Vertigo. On hard mode I finished it with about 0.5 seconds left!

Edit: Also, did you remove the wire and trigger from the top left hand corner of Beehive? I remember it being there at some point.

<grin> okay. I can do it with 11 left, though. But yeah, hard mode is supposed to be, well, hard :)

Beehive, gee, it seems I did remove that, but I don't really remember why... strange.

I solved vertigo with 8 seconds left, and I made a mistake which required some backtracking. I think it's entirely possible to solve it with at least 14-15 seconds left.

Of course, in order to do so I had to map the level and write down in advance the list of exits that I need to take, and when are the optimal times to stop for emeralds. Also, I used shift to collect the emeralds as that's faster.

In Vertigo, when you are between two teleporters, all you have to do is pause and see where each one will take you. Then decide which one is more useful.
