Math thinkers are obviously better at pure math problems, but on the other hand they're worse at visual problems. Different people just think in different ways -- this doesn't mean that math thinkers are generally smarter than visual thinkers or vice versa, they just approach problems differently. Anyway, I think to be truly smart you have to be able to approach problems in several different ways and be able to pick the best approach for any one problem .. (So with this in mind, maybe it's true that the smartest of people maybe won't get it instantly, but they won't spend too long on it either ? Hey, you may actually be a genius, Nillo )
