Don't despair! Use the Restore screen! It lets you go back to any checkpoint in any room.

I believe rumor has it that there'll be a way to prevent yourself from accidentally exiting a room in DROD 3.0.

Indeed there is. Hopefully it will also prevent bumping into objects, and walking over master doors when competing for highscores.

I did remember the Restore screen, but only about 5 minutes after posting, and it was rather late (by which of course I mean early), so I decided that I needed to go to bed to try and get at least some sleep.
