I would like to be able to place bombs on doors and pits.

On doors because it would prevent the bomb from being affected by other bombs until the door was dropped.

On pits, mostly for aesthetic reasons but also to prevent Beethro from walking on the square after the bomb has exploded.

I guess on walls too. It would allow more bombs in a small space without chain explosions (or lots of force arrows), as well as preventing traversal after explosions.

Sounds reasonable.

I guess the question is "why not allow these?"

I'd assume the major negative one could argue is that it might not make sense to have a bomb floating over a pit or on top of a wall.

I'm in favor of architectural freedom though. Let us put bombs wherever we darn well want.

I agree. The bombs could very well be in the wall.

I think it's reasonable to assume any given bomb floating over a pit has a very small column holding it up that collapses when the bomb explodes.

Bombs can be placed on walls fine now, but not doors or pits. Won't let you place the bombs first and then change the floor to walls/pit either. You can place bombs on master walls.
Perhaps water and stepping stones should be added to the "why not?" list too?

For water and pit, they would drop. So definitely not placeable on those. MIGHT be better to make a new thread instead of reviving a thread so old that it contains the 52nd (of 2423, and yes, I did count) post I made on this forum.
