I did that and haven't noticed any issues - world map still works if I load an endgame save, anyhow.

Is there a 5.1 patch, or is the only option to download the full install?

Where abouts? The patch on the downloads patch only has 5.0.1.6060.

Ugh. Yeah, we're a bit disorganized about where things go.

You can find the latest 5.1 patch... here?

DROD RPG 1.2.7 is up!

It contains updated wall tile graphics in Fortress, Foundation, and Iceworks styles (full version installer only), and updated boulder obstacle graphics (full+demo installers only), plus some bug fixes and improvements:

+ Now while viewing a room on the map, can use the 4-directional keys to pan around the level.

A big shout out and thank you to DezzTech for the graphical upgrades! :thumbsup

Please view the change log file for the complete list of changes.

Windows installers and patch currently available. Linux and OS X builds forthcoming.

DROD RPG 1.2.8 is up!

There are multiple improvements and fixes to the level editor, character scripting, game play/logic, and the UI/UX.

You can read the full list of changes on the forum here.

A big thanks to hyperme for implementing many of these improvements.

I have a Windows build published everywhere the game is currently available. Linux and Mac builds hopefully forthcoming (though I won't be the individual producing these.)

Thanks Mike Rimer for keeping the Mac and Linux builds of your games up to date.

Mac support these days requires 64-bit, notarized apps. Hope that doesn't overcomplicate things.

Sorry, it must be late. I'm not following what you're trying to say here. Is this sarcasm?

Not sarcasm at all. Just pointing out that the current MacOS 11 does not run DROD or DROD RPG at present, since this OS version requires 64-bit apps.

Sorry if I wasn't clear.

While the problem is specific to macOS 11, all the Mac versions of DROD are 64-bit, so that's not the reason.

Ah, I apologize too for misunderstanding. Got it now. :)

Yes, we've been building a 64-bit binary on OS X since maybe GatEB. Can't recall exactly.

I think I was feeling a bit defensive too, because I feel bad that I'm unable to produce the Mac builds myself anymore, but that's nobody's issue but mine. I'm hoping Slimm Tom can help out with that. If I'm understanding correctly, he's able to build full OS X packages now off the current codebase.

Hello! Indeed, at some point in time I had the whole setup working, but my Mac has since updated to a new OS X version so I'm not sure whether the build still works now.

I have a few weeks off from work soon. I'm not sure what your timeline is for the release, Mike, but I can try to find the time then to help you publish a Mac version.

Thanks, I'd appreciate you looking into whether you can still build, and providing a new Mac build if so. Don't know whether building a version that's compatible with the old OS version is still on the table, but it seems having a build that works with the new version at lease should make a lot of people happy. You get to dictate the timeline, really.

Long time under development, we have officially released TSS version 5.1.1. This updated version of 5.1.0 comprises many game logic and cosmetic bug fixes, plus performance and stability improvements, and an SDL2 library version upgrade.

Version 5.1.1 is fully backwards compatible. New holds created in 5.1.x cannot be played in previous versions of the game engine (5.0.1 or earlier).

It is recommended for all TSS users to upgrade to 5.1.1.

You can read the entire 5.1.1 change log here.

The Windows version is now available.

Registered TSS players can download the full 5.1.1 installer from the Downloads link at the top of the forum. You can download the TSS 5.1.1 demo installer on the CaravelGames TSS page, and there is also a smaller TSS 5.1.1 patch installer you can apply to your 5.1.0 install available on the Downloads page.

We are now maintaining the game engine source code on GitHub here:
https://github.com/CaravelGames/drod

I've updated the Windows builds on GOG and Steam.

Enjoy!

Slimm Tom has very helpfully volunteered to produce new builds for Mac OS X. He's put together full and demo installers for TSS 5.1.1.

I've placed the full build on the Downloads page (at the top of the screen), for registered users to access. The demo version is available on the Caravel Games TSS "play now" page.

A huge thanks and kudos to Slimm Tom from me for contributing to the community in this way. :thumbsup

If you have any issues with installing and running the game, please post what you're experiencing on the Bugs board.

Once players have independently verified that these builds are working for them, we'll move on to updating the Mac Steam builds as well.
