All they did was take some 2D fluid dynamics and extruded them along the Z axis - which is exactly how real fluids don't behave...

I don't know, from the looks of the video the gameplay is 2d, and only the graphics 3d, in which case you can imagine all forces being applied perfectly equally across the z axis, thus making the shown behaviour corrent. Sure, it's not really that impressive from a tech standpoint, but it does look like it could make for a great game.

I saw it and can confirm that it did exist, and that it was a plea not to kill anyone, but now it seems like the server hosting it got borked and there's no copies of it anywhere. Mildly amusing, but not much of a loss, really (anybody could probably write something similar).
