I can get the top roach past the gate, but then I can't move left fast enough to get it to the pressure plate -- it always reaches row 25 first. I imagine I'm missing something obvious.

My thanks to both of you! It's funny, isn't it, how a person can get stumped by something that seems so obvious in retrospect (and certainly easier than rooms I've solved on my own in this game). I feel sufficiently humbled now....

I can lure him to far left, then bomb goes off. but then he comes down towards the yellow gate. How do I get him back up to step on pressure plate?

It seems like I am required to get him on pressure plate before the bombs go off.

but them I can't get over to the left pressure plate fast enough
