HEre's a little spoilery thing on the two solutions to level 48. The secret tag doesn't contain the whole solution, just what is different between the two variants I know. I only found one myself, and it was Lakrits' hint that made me realize there is another.

Unfortunately, obody seems interested in looking for any more duplicate solutions. I suppose I too can sleep well at night without knowing if there are any more :)

I wrote down one of the solutions I could deduce, another is the one you present and a third is not really that different from those two. The problems in finding other solutions are:

Since I couldn't get Hanano itself to work under Wine (didn't even try extensively), I am not going to test this on Wine either, not right now anyway.

I run Hanano Puzzle under Wine on Ubuntu 10.04 perfectly. And the editor seems working fine for me under Wine too.

Hah. I tried clicking on Post Reply in Blondbeard's screenshot. This is a good day!

There is an alternative solution to 42. I am going to present it as a series of secrets, and wrap the whole shebang in a secret tag of its own. So you can click the outer secret tag and not yet see any spoilers.

I couldn't think of good hints, so this is just the solution. You might want to try Blondbeard's approach instead. It seems rather different from mine.

Regarding Wine, I also got a black screen. I didn't continue finding out why it happens, because I can just play the game on Windows, and messing with Wine seems like a waste of time.

I don't remember making any specific configuration.
Maybe set System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects to 'Normal'. But I think it's Normal by default.

Of course you need to use it in other level shenanigans! Otherwise what would be the point of even having it there?

You'll need to make sure you can use it to help out, but can still get it back to the left at the appropriate elevation when all is said and done.

So everything of level 47 is in one post, but it's still not making much sence to me.

EDIT: Beaten by Lakrits. I'll leave this up.

About level 49:

You need to have a specific blue stone go left to reach the blue stone that can be bloomed in one way only, namely by taking this stone in its bloomed form there.

You may ask: Do I need the blue stone to go above or below the wide grey that starts on the same level?

Is it possible to get a walkthrough please? :~(

Since my hint was for a different kind of solution, I'll post it too. It's secrets within secrets again. Level 49 can also be solved as follows. This solution looks a bit more complicated. At least the explanation is longer than what Lakrits gave us!

Hope no one was led astray with my hint that didn't apply to all possible solutions :)

Yes, well, my nakkisormet turned it into Lakrist, so I edited the post to fix that. It was just an accidental typo.

Nakkisormet would be "wiener fingers" in English, but I guess they don't usually say that. Come to think of it, I'm not sure they talk about how some people's thumbs are in the middle of their hands either, like we do in Finnish. Why is it that Finnish has so many words and idioms for clumsy people anyway? :)

On another note, now that I've learned there are multiple solutions to at least four Hanano levels, I feel I'm finally done with the game. I won't be ferreting out all the variations, because I imagine there to be at least a few more, and finding them would be a lot of work. Not to mention the difficulty of even defining when two solutions are not just trivial variations of each other.

So, perhaps I'll find more time to finish up my DROD hold now. It doesn't seem I can think up good Hanano puzzles (and many the author gave us are just wonderful), so I better stick to something I can do slightly better :)

Well, I'm Fennoswedish and there are parallel expressions in Swedish (e.g. to have the thumb in the middle of one's hand). I hope it's because there are so many excellent people in Fennoscandia, that we (the normal ones) look clumsy in comparison. E.g. "Well, I guess your ginger bread house is okay, for a five-year-old, but look what Alvar Aalto made when he was your age". :)

(My favourite Swedish word in the clumsy family is råddig (sort of clumsy/messy/distracted).)

I'll probably get back to Hanano later, when I've forgotten the solutions. It's a very good piece of game programming. Deceivingly simple on the looks of it, but challenging and with a nice learning curve.

Have you played DROD, Lakrits? I think you would like it (if you haven't). Bah! Varför skriva klumpig engelska då jag kan skriva på svenska? Känns bara lite oartigt att använda ett språk som inte alla förstår.

I should revise my Swedish a little more often. I can read it fluently and understand it when spoken quite well too (except some dialects are hard), but there's too much interference from English when I try to use it off the cuff. I need a word-book handy. Or a dictionary, as the English language calls the thing.

On another note, I looked in a thesaurus for synonyms of clumsy, and it reminded me of some lovely terms I really should have remembered. The English speakers don't have their thumbs in the middle of their hands (or palms), but they can be all fingers and thumbs. Instead of having wiener sausages for fingers, they can, poor things, be ham-fisted. I love that expression a lot. And when it comes to fingers, specifically, and not meat products, there's the word butterfingered. I guess it suggests a situation where something just keeps slipping out of your hand, and is not most apt for describing an accidental typo.

So, right, when it comes to spelling Lakrits, I was a bit ungainly, graceless, maladroit, inelegant and unhandy. One really shouldn't say that I spelled the name like a bull in a china shop, though, because bulls don't type.

I am now putting the thesaurus away. It goes on the bookshelf right... now.

And the final note: I still have a walkthrough I wrote and later proofread. I can send it to anyone who asks. One person has asked for it so far. But I no longer want to find all the duplicate solutions to the levels that have them, which I why I edited the earlier message to remove that bit. I'm fine now knowing just one solution for each level.

I also hope it's OK with Lakrits that I included his solution to level 49 in place of my own, since I think his is better and simpler. I credited him and the Caravel Forum of course.

This probably doesn't matter much, because I am not intending ever to publish the walkthrough. It's just for my own reference for later in case people still ask me for hints. I kind of promised to provide them on a certain other forum, and someone might take me up on that later too.

Now, I'm going back to lurk mode and will stop rambling. Also, I'll just get that thesaurus for a bit to see some more words, terms, expressions, vocables, locutions... for later use in suitable contexts.

To answer other questions from the posts above:

a) Yes, I'll try DROD. At least I think I will.
b) Include whatever walkthrough you want, and attribute me if that feels necessary (I really don't care about signing my "works").
