Sometimes, I find myself testing a puzzle and finding it way too easy if the player can backspace all he wants through it. Could a way to put a "Classic DROD Backspace" script option so it would be like DROD for one room?

Wouldn't that simply be removing the player's ability to bypass tedium?

In my opinion, it's a fine idea, but in the forum's mind (I'm reminded of this topic), this could be construed as something that removes the player's power, not the character's power.

so..basically you just want people to save /outside/ the room before coming in?

This game already requires enough spamming the save/load button..

The only thing I ask for here is to allow the Classic DROD way of solving a room in a script, not anything else. That is, one backspace to rewind one move, but otherwise, you gotta warp back to the last checkpoint; which would be autosaves in RPG. I don't ask for players to save before entering the room, or removing the player's power over the room, because it works fine in Classic DROD already. As said, this would apply to single room puzzles much like Classic DROD and if you exit the room, the next room won't be affected unless the architect has another single room puzzle, in which case it could be scripted in that said room as well.

If you don't want spoilers for The King's Will, do not download this; or don't look at anything else than what I point out in this post. The room in question is the Subcellar 1S, but could also be the Subcellar 2S or 2S 1E. All of those are single-room puzzles, one of which is optional, but to be honest, in the Subcellar 1S, even though I went out of my way to make a bomb timer, if players can just backspace until before they wasted a turn, they won't really pay attention to the precise movements to not set off the bomb. They will simply try, then when they notice the bomb is about to go off and they're not quite there, they'll backspace about twenty times so they're back before they wasted some turns, not waste them, then go forward and possibly waste them before the bomb goes off again; at which point they'll go back ten turns, and you see where I'm going with this? It's not a puzzle, then. It's a guessing game.

Then people just qucik save/load instead of using backspace. Uselss feature is useless.

And save/load disabling won't make anyone popular.

Popularity isn't my goal. Making puzzles that are interesting, that's more what I'm aiming for. I guess nothing will be done for this request, though, oh well. People will just play the guessing game for a few rooms.
