Right, so, demos attached (I think; I'm not 100% clear on how "export all demos" works). They probably speak more clearly about the rooms than I can. My last solves were 1W, 1E, 1S, and 2S1E. Probably the most irritating of the rooms was 1S, where I'm still not entirely sure how I solved the east half of the room, other than apparently doing something right by accident on the umpteenth try. Other rooms, like 1W and 2S1E, were certainly difficult (in both cases, somewhat difficult to see what to do and then also difficult to execute), but they were both logical and fair.

Hopefully I didn't hit on anything too unintended. (2N1E was much easier than I expected....)

Sorry for taking so long, but I've finally released an update with a fix to 2N1E.

I believe I've done 2N1E your way with 3 mimics now. :)

One more update in which the ending text has been changed a bit and 2N1E has been made a little trickier.

I didn't find 2N1E any trickier this time around, although you did break my old demo. Am I doing it wrong? I do like the puzzle, and even if this solution is unintended, it is kinda cool.

[Last edited by CuriousShyRabbit at 08-26-2009 05:05 AM : demo removed since I don't want to spoil anyone else's fun :P]

No, your solution is intended, it's just that by moving the mimic potions up an extra trick is required.

Just a minor update with the addition and rearrangement of some checkpoints.

Interesting. For 1N1W I just cut out a trap for the serpent. The tar didn't kill it.
Could I see how you did it? (you'd have to redo it since the room was moved)

Actually, the version on the top post is the same as the version I played last. Did you forget to export the version with the new and improved checkpoints?

On the subject of checkpoints, if the checkpoint in the wraithwing loop part of 1W could be moved to a usable location, that would be awesome. :)

Hmm, that's odd. It should be fixed now.

I'm sorry, Noah, my game still says it's the same and "ignores" the file. It's possible there is a bug with AE, such that it doesn't always change a hold's "last update time" when minor changes are made. This is what the game looks at when it decides to ignore a hold. TFMurphy vaguely remembers mention of such a bug, but we can't find a forum post about it.

I'd really rather not delete all my progress just so I can import an ever so slightly different version of your hold.

Perhaps you could make a more drastic change to a non-puzzle room like 2E to see if that fixes the problem?

I modified the exit room a little, so the new checkpoints should be included now.

Noah, I'm sorry, but there's still something wrong, and I don't know how you can fix it. :(

The game says your new version is still the same as the previous version.

I hacked the hold ID so I could import your new version as a separate new hold. Then I compared your new version and old version in the editor (by clicking back and forth between the holds). As far as my eyes can see, the two holds really are the same. Checkpoints in the same old spots, no differences between the exit rooms.

Maybe someone with more experience with AE could comment here?

I'm not all that familiar with AE, but trying the simplest possibilities to start with might be best: check that the file you're uploading really *is* the exported one. Easiest way to do that is simply check what time the file was last modified. If it's not showing the time you last exported the hold, then either the hold is being exported to another directory, or AE doesn't have permission to overwrite the file.

In either case though, I'd just suggest exporting to an entirely new directory, and not overwrite anything.

Alright, so I deleted the hold file from the directory before exporting again, and it now has today's date as the modified date (it wasn't updating before), so hopefully it's fixed now.

Finally! I was able to admire the new and improved checkpoint placement in rooms like 1W. :)

And the new ending text is better too, now that you can't interpret it as Beethro thinking the hold wasn't good.

I've replayed the two changed rooms. 1E is now a bunch trickier than I remember it. :)

The orb wiring in 2N1W was not intentional, and just a result of forgeting to check things thoroughly. I've fixed this in the latest update.
