You guys may or may not have noticed that I haven't been around this past week. That's because I've lost my home internet connection on wednesday. I also couldn't go to an internet cafe or similar before today because of a very nasty cold I had gotten. The rooms are going along nicely and will be ready by tomorrow, and I'll try to borrow a USB stick or something to post it ASAP (hopefully still in time). So if I turn out to be late (again), I'm awfully sorry, but it won't be long.

The really annoying thing is, there's a lot of stuff that I can still get back in L7 (the blue key in 3S3W, the hall on the right in 2S2W, getting past the wubba in 1W, the treasure left by the adder in 3W) and L6 (all the keys/gems/accessories in 2S1W, the 4 DEF gems in 1S1E, the items guarded by the swordsmen in 1E.) I could probably afford to get one or two of these things now, but once I enter L8, getting any of these things will be pretty much impossible (unless anyone wants to give me ten million HP in their room.)
Perhaps once the hold is completed and I play it through once more, I'll optimize it well enough to get some of these things. (Maybe if L6:2S1W had some HP potions as rewards as well as keys/gems/accessories I would've got it earlier.)

While we're waiting, I've had a look at the rooms already submitted. Mostly they seem fine, but I have reservations about 1S. The rewards offered are too great for killing just one Waterskipper -- even at the start when they do ~800 damage but certainly after the player crosses the 440 ATK threshold (just three ATK gems on Level 8 are needed for this) when damage is halved. Maybe change the Waterskipper on top of the blue key to a brain? Or maybe use a custom monster?

No -- and annoyingly, I discovered that Jeff_Ray sent me the wrong file, only containing the first two levels. I sent him a PM about this but he hasn't replied yet.

I would rather wait a little longer and see if they return, since (unless either of them is lying) both of them have already made the rooms and I don't want to waste their work; and also because this was the last level.

Is it possible for you to place a tunnel connecting the L3/L6 entrance to the L3/L4 (and L3/L5) entrance, that you can get to once you reach L6? It would save a lot of time navigating empty rooms, since I find myself going back and forth between L6 and L5 a lot.

Edit: Not to mention between L6 and L4 several times when I'm trying to get all my swords/shields/powerups in the same place.

Edit: Also, can you remove The Big Seep from L7 1N2W please? I can't see any purpose that it serves (since you can easily get past it) other than to annoy the player who forgets about it, enters the room into a square adjacent to it, and then loses health (or dies instantly) and has to restore a previous save since you can't undo it. I speak from the experience of restoring about a dozen saves due to that one thing.

Okay. Here's what we have so far. I'm afraid Jeff_Ray has once again sent the wrong file, so I don't have his contribution to Level 8.

As requested I have added a tunnel connecting the west and east sides of The Disused Sewer to make backtracking quicker.

I didn't want to remove the Big Seep but I have moved it so it is no longer adjacent to the room edge, which seems to be the main problem.

I'm not sure what to suggest about how to get this finished off. Jeff, if you can find the correct file (and please check that it is the correct file) can you just post it here? If not, maybe Stew Boy and hyperme could each take another five rooms?

Really sorry about the mess this level has caused -- I see now I was being overambitious.

You weren't being overambitious, it's just that one of the contributors was unable to contribute due to unforeseen problems. Perhaps each of the four contributors (me, hyperme, Jeff_Ray, you) could each take one room of the 2S row, and have one room (the middle one maybe?) just be blank/filler? A sort of 'free parking' room?

Edit: I'm not sure why there are 3 yellow keys at the top of 2N. I don't remember putting them there - I probably just put them in to quickly test something, then forgot to take them out, as I often do. Could you get rid of them please?

Also, I wonder if hyperme is aware that (I think) it's impossible to get the four big HP potions in 1S1W without using the portable orb (which I used about five levels ago)?
Oh, and you seem to have blocked off 4W.

Um, oops. How many orbs or portableness are in the hold? There's the one in level 2, but are there optionl ones?
I'm in for more rooms. If we do some, I have a solution to the orb thing. What is REP at the level start?

That sounds like a good idea. I've allocated the rooms at random as follows:

You - 2S1W
Hyperme - 2S4W
Jeff - 2S3W
Me - 2S2W

That leaves 2S vacant; I'll put a filler room there.

I'm not going to assign a deadline for this, but please try to complete your rooms within one week of whenever you read this. Don't send them to me, just post them here.

I would make it 20,000 so it's unlikely the player can get more than one.

New rooms attached. I've added hyperme's requested extra line to his script.

We need to get this finished, so I'll assume we have to work without Jeff_Ray.

It seems the room at 2S can be cut from the map without loss, so I've removed it. That leaves six rooms, and there are three of us left. I'll dish out one more room each at random, and you can also take a second room of your choice if you post to tell us which you've taken. Jeff_Ray and Dex Stewart can also choose an unallocated room if they return before all rooms are claimed. At the end of this round, one of the rooms not yet built will be given to the boss, and any others (if there are any) will be filler.

Hmm. Forcing the player to take damage from the Seep will really muck up my stats. I might try and see if I can work around it, though not just now.

Okay, fingers crossed, we are very near the end now.

I have filled in 1N4W, added The Stew Boy's 1N3W, and put the level's boss in 2S3W. His stats are rather guesswork-y, so I'd appreciate feedback.

Apologies to hyperme for not bringing this up before, but I didn't like 1S4W in its submitted form, and since he doesn't seem to be responding at the moment I went ahead and changed it. The problem was that it gave you a huge stash for the pickaxe, with no other way to access it; but (1) I don't like the accessories having such a clear and obvious place where they should be used, and (2) it made 4W (a lesser reward for using the pickaxe) pointless. I've changed the room by lowering the reward and adding two further ways to access it.

The level is now completable (or should be if the boss is okay), but aesthetically I don't like the empty rooms at 1N, 1N1W, 1N2W very much. Any suggestions? I'm up for one last round of adding one room each if you want, or we could just leave them as filler, or something else if you have any ideas.
