Okay, I may actually do this after all.

Not precisely related, but where is the player progress data stored? It doesn't seem to be linked to anything in the Data folder...

EDIT: Am I allowed to put Skelwings in the Skelwing explosions, or does that count as placing more Skelwings?

I'll assume it's not allowed unless otherwise specified...

Sounds fine to me.

Well, I made a level this afternoon (I think it's somewhat interesting because it requires you to push keys). The skelwing explosion doesn't currently contain a skelwing, but if I added one I could raise the gem quota by 9 for hard mode and make you kill the spider. (The others all die one way or another.)

Also, player progress data? I want to transfer it between computers.

If you want to copy to another place/PC, just look for the name of the player to be copied in the data folder and take the whole thing.
if you don't want the replays of the levels you've done, I think you can just take the player.cfg file, as that has all the actual stuff.
I think....

Just taking the folder should do it. ;)

Ohhhhh... I was looking for a single file. I've got it now.

Additionally, my level is ready. The Skelwing must survive.

It's a two-player level, and requires pushing keys. :D

Thanks. I'm giving people 12 hours as of this post to hand in late entries, and then I'll put up another poll.

I decided to sit this one out too; I couldn't find time. Maybe I'll make a level from this template later this year.

Is there some way you could make the link to the template more obvious? I spent ages searching through threads to find where it was uploaded. A blue link on a blue-ish background is quite hard to spot unless you know where it is.

Edit: Also, questions: Can we turn the border steel walls into background, and can we shift the level right and down (or at least enlarge the border), to put in background around the level?

Wouldn't the border walls be invisible anyway? So it won't make a difference?

Just put your own steel wall border inside the other walls.

Okay, I have two Skelwings, each with a different explosion content, and when I kill the first one, I get the second explosion. Does this mean that the second one already died somehow? Or is there another way this could happen?

Here's my level. I really hope I haven't accidentally moved any doors or gates, but I counted them up and I don't think I've added any more.

Also, I haven't made much use of the Seeker. I'd created the whole level ready to submit, until I double-checked the rules and thought "whoops, I'm supposed to have a seeker in here." Oh well.

This one was rather bigger than I would have liked, but I did make one. There are at least two ways to solve it; one is how the solution says, the other involves getting the yellow key at the bottom of the screen. The solution isn't technically a "hard mode" solution, but there are some clearly ignored gems at the end which should fix that.

Any chance of doing one of these for ST2?

You might change your forum skin?

Er, no. But I can put in a background for the next one...

I´m not sure what you mean, could you post the level as an example?

Sure.

Actually, I solved the problem. It turned out that the Skelwing was being killed by the elevator block.

Also, I did post the level, just above.

If there was ST2 ones, then I'd probably find it easier to join in.
I just don't seem to be very good with the ST1 set-up, I'm much more comfortable with wires.
:D

:yahoo: Hooray :yahoo:, we have another participant! Welcome to the contest Bigwig. :)

I played your level and, per your request, have a few comments.
The level as a whole was fun. It wasn't very difficult, but being difficult isn't what makes a level fun. It's hard to say exactly what I liked about it except that I liked the flow and the fact that there is not a lot of running back and forth (something that gets very boring very quickly). I did find that the beginning could have used some more save disks as it was really easy to mess up the first few rooms. I also found a glitch: it's possible to take the red key without using the balloons. All you have to do is move onto the motion field underneath the key and then take it.
The level did leave me with one question though. Why is there a portal at the very beginning? :huh

My June entry is almost ready. It's taken me most of the month to get where I am now. I seem to have a bad case of level block, not to mention a bad case of new video games. I plan to finish in the next few days.

D'oh, I forgot all about the contest this month. Usually when I make a level, I throw some random stuff down and "organically" shape the level and slowly tweak the level, until it has enough difficulty and uniqueness.

In short - 3 days'll make my level feel rushed. We'll see what I can do though...

I made Crossroads in about three or four hours. I'm sure you could come up with something good in the time remaining. After all, you are a very good level designer.

Actually, your process sounds very similar to mine. It's a very right brained way of doing things, but it makes for some interesting levels.

Thankyou for the feedback B.J. Earles. Sorry if the portal confused you a bit but i like to give the impression that the player has just arrived from somewhere else in the subterra world (rather than just appearing there)and since that level didn't have any other portals it ment i could put it there for decoration. I take it i can re-submit it with the glitch fixed?

As long as the level hasn't been changed to much, fixing the glitch and resubmitting the level should be fine. Both the Stew Boy and I have done something similar in the past. The general rule I follow is as long as the original solution remains the same, you can change whatever you want. That shouldn't be much of a problem though. I can think of a couple really good ways to fix it without changing the solution in the replay at all.
