I'm pretty sure this is a bug. In the attached room (which I was just messing around in), I noticed that the slayers kill each other. Just wait until it happens.

Old bug that. I posted about it briefly about a year ago, and it's been around (though likely unnoticed for the most part) since JtRH. Slayers usually test squares before they move in case such a move might accidentally stab something they don't want stabbed (bombs, other Slayers, etc.) But when trying to get to an orb to open a door, they do not run this check.

Funnily enough, this logic failure is now mentioned in the 39th Slayer entry on the fansite.

Mike did say he'd like to fix it, but not that he actually would. Given that it's an AI failure rather than something tremendously bad happening, it's kinda low priority, and there's always the possibility of broken rooms/demos. Not that I foresee a huge amount of them with *this*... but it's difficult to care about this rare type of logic hole when the Slayer has more effective ways to be stupid.

(Still, it's easily fixed if Mike wants - just explaining the circumstances)

Official word for now: let's leave this one as-is to avoid room/demo breakage.

You do that, and I will deduct at least one point from your hold rating. Sound fair?

Provided he does what all good architects should do when manipulating a bug, which is to place a scroll explaining the ai quirk, I don't see why he needs punishment.

He could, but that would practically give away the solution.

Yeah, but then in the second hold he uses the trick, he can just refer to the scroll in the first hold. Devilish.

Depends on how much information is given away. And perhaps the puzzle revolves around more than that.
