Tiles are 14x14 for "free" version. Non-free version can use caravel styles as I understand and so do not need graphics.
Why make a non-free flash version of DROD? I though that this is supposed to be a bait to attract more people to play "original" DROD.
Non-free means non-free license, not non-free price.

Ooh, a free as in beer quote rainbow. Nice. So yes, that makes an awful lot of sense.

I mean the tile size of a Flash DROD room. Do I go along with the picture that vittro provided, or is it something different?

Hi,

Don't worry, I'm still here - it's just that

a) I'm in the height of semester, and real life work is causing a huge amount of pressure on me at the moment;
b) I've been working out how to use the Caravel assets, and their format is a bit different from the existing frontend library. (For one thing, they're all in a few huge files, and a lot more sensitivity is needed in picking which tile to use for each part of a feature. They're also higher resolution.) Since I can't distribute them until the agreement is sorted, I couldn't commit anything related to that.

However. On a more concerning note. Did someone take the CVS down? I can't update any more.

I successfully make an update today. And it is more commonly called SVN (=subversion), not CVS.

It's more commonly called whatever you're using whether it be CVS, SVN, Mercurial...

Can't you just call it "source code repository" and move on?

:) SCR would be such a silly term though

That's why it's called a "repo"... :P

Interesting note.

Adobe Alchemy:
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/alchemy/

This allows C++ code to be compiled to SWF. Using this, we could simply recompile the open source Caravel DROD engine, rewriting only the front end. It's already been used to make a version of DOOM (!!) that runs on Kong; if it can do Doom's graphics engine I'm guessing it can do DROD's! :)

So you're suggesting we run Alchemy on DRODlib, then just code a flash version of the executable? That sounds MUCH more manageable.

It seems it could require a fair amount of patching. The problem is, DRODLib calls BackEndLib quite a lot, and BackEndLib does a lot of things that Alchemy doesn't like, such as accessing DROD's database system..
