It's one of those panels that you can use to contact one of many residents of a house, by entering their ID. Usually they're found next to the main entrance of a house. I don't what it is called, hence the long description.

Would it help if I said it was a thing in its own right, and not part of a larger system? It's not mounted in any way, and not attached to anything except a small power supply on the floor.
