icon Something Remarkable! (0)
I found something remarkable while I was playing Drod. My door was strangely closing, even without human help.

I was thinking this as something rather odd, but I didn't jump to conclusions. My door has magnetic screws that secure the doorknob, and my family has an ion air cleaner several feet from my door.

I was think now that the ions were reacting to the magnetic screws, and that's how my door kept closing. But then I felt a cool breeze as I walked back to my computer. I realized that it could've been the wind. But, the wind wasn't blowing hard enough to do such a thing.

I also figured that the ion idea was probably unlikely. The theory was probably unlikely, and I've had my door at that area before, with the air cleaner on, and nothing has happened before.

So what's going on?

Probably the AC came on and the air pressure shifts caused the door to close. It happens.

I'd say it's probably the wind. It may not have felt strong enough to be closing it, but a door has a lot of surface area for a breeze to hit.

My bedroom door is the same way -- the pedestal fan a couple of metres away is enough to make it shut, even though I can't feel the breeze in my room. I just kick a shoe in front of it -- it doesn't take much to stop it from closing either. :)

Hmm, I got that now. There are some strange physics these days.

[joke]Ahh. Now can any one explain to me as to why my bedroom door got ripped off its hinges and went top wood over bottom wood over the banister and into the living room?[/joke]

I think you just hit an orb, toggling the door.

No, it took quite some time for the door to close. The doorknob is the door's true orb, but I never touched it.

Maybe it was a combination of both the ions and the wind.

Oh, and at my place, it had a five minute downpour of rain. No more winter!

Crap. it was snowing really lightly about 10 minutes ago, I guess you can never truly end winter. :(

Maybe someone was hiding with a portable orb.

Or maybe someone stepped on a tiny pressure plate.

Speaking of doors. Do you only have doorknobs in US? Or do doorhandles exist over there? Home in Sweden doorknobs doesen't even exist. Why is this.

Just a mark of curiosity.

I suppose both exist. Not all door openers are a flat ball extending from a part of a door of some color. Mainly the door handles are used on front and back doors, whereas all the other doors in the house are doorknobs.

"Home in Sweden doorknobs doesen't even exist."

Should be:

"Home in Sweden, doorknobs don't even exist."

Sorry, I just had to say it. By the way, I might have not wanted to correct Pneh, as it leads to a lot of things that I really don't want to talk about right now.

Can we continue Something Remarkable! ?
