This is really pissing me off. Every time I want to use a text variable in speech or scrolls, I have to copy it elsewhere. It does work on other applications.

I'm using TCB Demo 3.1.0.54.

Windows Vista Home Premium... I don't think that drod.err has anything about this, but I'l still attach it.

It seems that I can't use Alt-Gr in DROD at all, but is working elsewhere.

Errr... which keyboard layout do you use that you need Alt-Gr to type a dollar sign? *wonders*

Can you use <Ctrl> + <Alt> instead of <Alt GR>? It should give the same results.

If you have a keyboard layout anything like mint, you could use Shift-4 for a dollar sign. Have you tried that? Or was that your original problem?

Should have said this earlier... I have a keyboard with Finnish layout, so I have to press Alt-Gr-4 to get a dollar sign.

I get the same results (same keyboard layout). AltGr+4 = nothing, Ctrl+Alt+4 = nothing either

But there's an easy workaround, at least in Windows XP. Go to the control panel and find the language settings. It's possible to switch the keyboard layout there. You can also get it visible in your toolbar so it can be changed with just a few clicks.
[edit: I just realised you've got Vista. Not familiar with it at all, but maybe there's a way to do the same thing]

Shift+4 works for me after a layout change. I'm expecting it won't be any different for you.

This is a low-level issue concerning the SDL library. I had this problem during TCB beta and it was fixed by updating to SDL version 1.2.11. Is that the version you have (you should be able to check the version of the library by looking at the properties for SDL.dll in the Libs-directory)?

It works (and has worked ever since the library update sometime back in July 2006) for me at least using Linux (and IIRC I was using Windows XP at the time I sumbitted the bug-report (because no Linux build existed yet)).

Edit: For the record, I'm also using a Finnish keyboard-layout (laptop).
