The backronym. It's a surprisingly common way to give a word that's been plucked out of thin air, or had a meaning that's a grounding in reality, a history, an etymology. Many curse words are given a backronym etymology, as are many software products.
DROD actually
has an acronym etymology, but now that Beethro sheathes his sword and engages in cutscenes, not every room these days is filled with deadly death. And so: alternate acronyms. Backronyms. Plus, heck, it's easy and fun.
