1. Hot plates.
2. The plot--the gossips talking about the guide being killed! It's very dark, from the beginning.
3. The lighting effects.

OK, as for me, I think I've totally got a crush on the female gossip character. (She's cute. And that voice!)

I haven't, mind you, actually played through the entire first level; I mostly poked around with it, and did some further poking in the editor. (And even that wasn't complete, because there's at least one item that I never did figure out the use for.) But I love the 3Dish look of it, I love the voice acting, I love the way the dialogue's written...OK, truth be told, I kind of need to stop now, or else I really will start playing it, and I positively should not do so until the end of the semester.

Absolutely hilarious dialogue.
The ego trip of seeing one of my feature requests in the game (hot tiles)
The music. The level design. Most of all, the amount of personality in the game. I must say, this tops JtRH, KDD, and incorporates adventure elements and puzzles seamlessly.
Excellent work, and I'll buy the full version soon. A lot of work clearly went into this, and it tops all my expectations.

Second all the praise.

The hold management menu has gone through brilliant improvements. Saves a lot of time and trouble.

The main hold seems pretty epic, too, and seems so far like a good candidate for the single best hold ever yet created.

Currently for me - the exit screen with Danforth.
Now that just screams attention to detail.

I'm not so sure about the sound - while some of the effects are the same, the quality seems less than JtRH.

I was struggling a while with figuring out how to get back that nifty serpent clock I got used to - until I realised that copying the file into the Bitmaps directory over-rides the default graphic.
This prevents that unfortunate problem of people accidentally deleting the file altogether.

Here's a neat little thing I just discovered: you can kill the roaches on the title screen. You have to left-click while the tip of the sword pointer is over one. This is tricky, as the roaches run from the light emitted by the sword.

Slight correction: you can click with the right or middle buttons as well and still kill them.

Yeah, right after they add a 'nuke chat' button, fix the chat from disconnecting, fix the cursor vanishing bug and add numerous tweaks to the chat as well. Oh, and fix H&S.

One thing that stood out when I played TCB yesterday night was that the actual menu options in the menu look weird when you put the mouse cursor over them - bright blue + bright, lit background = terrible readability and looks weird.

Would it be possible to give the menu options a black outline like the "Exit level!" et al text in JtRH had it?

Running TCB in windowed mode, you can hardly see what it will do when you step on it. The arrow could be a bit bigger and the token could use other colours. But that's really a minor issue.
