If you place a monster such as a tar baby and then place a guard, you can place the sword over the tar baby.
If you go into the room, the monster won't die until the 2nd turn or if won't if the guard turns its sword.
This happens with the Slayer as well.
What do you think the correct behavior should be? Maybe to have monsters juxtaposed on swords not show up in the room at all when the player enters?
I can't think of exact rooms, but I'm pretty sure I've seen rooms that depend on the current behavior (as well as on the first turn guard's sword not causing tar cutting, orb strikes, etc. on entry) And I've definitely seen rooms that would be affected by this, but wouldn't neccesarily break. So, if this change is considered, a serious look at existing holds would be needed.
Mmm...I'm reluctant to cause hunts for broken rooms every time a patch is released. Also, I'm not sure how consistent this is -- room entry has always been a bit of a wild card. Consider bombs, for instance. Swords should definitely not detonate them on room entrance, otherwise the game gets stuck on player death. So it wouldn't be consistent to say swords should affect anything they touch on room entrance. I'm inclined to just let this one go. If the hold author wants monsters to die instantly when swords are on them, they could just remove these monsters from the room in the first place.
