With Google's help, I've come up with two possible answers. The "Stop Alcoa" pic has me leaning toward the documentary "Saving Iceland".

My other guess would be the documentary "Heima" which, now that I've stumbled across it, I would really like to see.

It is indeed Heima. I'm kind of surprised it lasted this long, since it was discussed over here a couple of months ago. The first couple of shots were deliberately vague, but I thought Palli the instrument maker or the kid from the brass band in Ísafjörður would jog someone's memory.

Fun fact from listening to the commentary: This scene with the band in Ísafjörður was filmed at around midnight.

The movie "They Live" pops to mind. I remember enjoying it when it first came out, but I was really into horror movies back then. Love to see it again to see if I still like it now.

It is in fact They Live, which is still a terrific movie, as long as you accept a certain level of low-quality. Overdue for a remake, really.
