Uplink, and Penny Arcade, I put it down to.
I was a little disappointed with Darwinia. After Uplink, I was expecting something a little more outlandish, I guess. I has having difficulty seeing the depth to the game, and although it's a very neat art style, I was looking for something with more substance.
But then, I was wrong about Tranquility.

I think the biggest problem with Darwinia is that it doesn't have much depth, as you say. What you do in the demo is pretty much what you do throughout the rest of the game, only you have different objectives on different maps. The story isn't even particularly notable. The game is good for a short diversion, but it loses its appeal after a short while.
And yes, I will admit that i downloaded and tried an illegal copy of the game. Why? Simple, really. The demo made me think that the game was going to be good, but after reading a little more about the game on the official forums and several reviews, I got skeptical. It sounded like the demo was essentially all there was. It sounded like you were just put on different maps with different objectives, but you still moved your squad around and killed the virii and saved your little green people. That got me thinking that $40 is a lot of money, especially if I end up not enjoying the game. I decided to see if the game itself had more substance. If it did, I would have gladly bought the game since I feel it's important to support game developers. After playing for a little while, though, I uninstalled the game and deleted it. I'm glad I didn't buy it because it would have been $40 down the drain. That may not seem like much to some people, but to me it's a lot of money.
Anyway, I'm not condoning game piracy. Warez is illegal and it does hurt the industry, so you shouldn't participate.
Incidently, what do you think the chances are that JtRH will get warezed?
