I know it's okay to use official Caravel art (such as the Instructor's portrait) in your hold, but I was wondering: How could I go about getting permission to use an old image from a forum member who is not active anymore (in this case, I would like to use ClaytonW's Map of the Eighth from January 2004) in a future hold?

Hmm, good question. I could possibly get in touch with Clayton to ask him, and I'm going to go out on a limb and assume he'll probably be okay with it. Is there any special permissioning on his original file attachment?

Yes, although the license isn't specific: it just says "other".

I wrote Clayton and he replied:

Of course anyone who wants to can use the image, as well as any other DROD content I've made. Permission granted!

Lemme know if/when the hold gets released, and maybe I'll give it a go.

Okay. Thank you (both mrimer and ClaytonW)! The hold in question won't be released until over a year after this particular post date, as it will be the final hold in the Blank Dungeon series.
