I wanted to make a big hold. So I started to make Simon's Dungeon...
The levels are going to be theme based but I'm not sure how many I'll make. That depends on how many room ideas I get...

Update : Final testing version
Added warp room for testing.

Finished it. There's some very good puzzles in there, and a consistent medium-ish diffulcty which is good. Some more checkpoints would be good, and maybe one near the combination puzzle so you don't have to keep running over there. It's a great level though, I can't wait for more levels if they're this quality :thumbsup

I've finished it. Very nice hold, lots of rooms, with varied difficulty. Although sometimes it gets boring when you have to do the same thing 7+ times. You might want to trim down those, or try to get an extra trick in. Is it possible to have a save point in more rooms?

Some comments about specific rooms:

2N1E

3N1W

1N2W,2W

1S2E
definitely needs a save point.

2S
This first parts looks strangely familiar... Didn't I see this thing before?

Well Done! You should do some more!

Are you sure about those coordinates? 3N 1W is the room with orb in the middle and roaches in the sides. If it's 3N 2W, cold you send me demo of that?

I don't understand what you mean. Could you be more accurate?

1S2E
definitely needs a save point.

Not necessarily. There's a logic in which order you hit orbs.

2S

Yes :) I've borrowed other ideas too...

Well Done! You should do some more!

Already done 13 rooms of level 2 and a few rooms in level 3.

Grrrrrr... I mean 3N2W, although 3N1W did took me some time. I'm still not sure how I did that (3N1W)...
Here's a demo for 3N2W. If you can't watch it, the trick is:

I meant that it was a bit boring, because you are doing the same trick all the time.
1S2E

Not necessarily. There's a logic in which order you hit orbs.
I know, but I don't want to walk all the way 10 times. I'm a very lazy person ;)

Yes :) I've borrowed other ideas too...
Yes, I noticed ;) It's just that I found that part so easy to do :)
Already done 13 rooms of level 2 and a few rooms in level 3.
OK, maybe I should also do a level 2 of my hold then.

By the way, you might not noticed, but I'm a really bad swordsman. I've just completed Fool's Errand, and it took me 3 weeks to find out how to finish the goblins room. :angry

Um, what about the fact that you revamped level 1? :) Haven't played level 2 yet, but wanted to comment on level 1. I really liked the changes you made; 1N2W, 1S, and 3N1E especially. I wasn't even sure 3N1E was possible at first. Two comments on particular rooms:

ok, I was in a hurry when I posted it.

I made changes in the "boring" rooms in level 1. Your solution in 1E is intended. I'll also fix 3N 2W for the next version.

Sorry, I apologise. I will refrain from using the word boring from now on. I use that word because I was not sure if the solution was intended. (It's hard being psychic and guess what you want to achieve, you know.)

I'm stuck on your new 1N 2W though.

By the way, I don't think I will do any test on your level two, because I have absolutely no ideas how to solve any of them :weep

I think that second part of L2 2W is impossible. Ignore it because I'll fix it.

So far I am unable to solve the following rooms (I used the editor to solve 3W and 1E): 2W, 1S, 1N1E, 1N2E, and 2S1E.

2S1W:

One concern about the level as a whole. The difficulty jumps considerably from the first level to this one. Once you have more levels done, you might want to consider re-ordering them so this is a higher level. You could easily insert a roach queen level or even an eyeball level before this one. (The wraithwing may have technically shown up earlier in KDD, but the eyeball was actually made good use of earlier.)

I'll change the order of levels if I make easier levels later. I'm currently making level with roach queens but it's propably more difficult than the wraithwing level... -_-

I actually assumed that was the way 2S1W was meant to be done.

I can't figure out
1N1W I can't get a WW where I want it
2W I know you said the second part isn't possible but I can't do the first part
1S2W can't see anyway to get one of the WW out
1N2W no idea how to get past the force arrows.

1N1W complete
1S2W complete
2W got past the first part but I agree the second part does look to be not possible.

Level 1 2N1W seems to be impossible. If I use the lower entrance, the uppermost roach is inaccessible, and if I use the upper entrance, there's no way to kill the roach on the force arrow.

Hi,

BE PREPARED FOR A LONG POST ;)

Sorry for being late, but I was testing other holds as well, and I've also finished Zork:GI (cool game, but off-topic) ;)

Let's see what I think of level 2:

General comment: As a person that do not really liked ww before, I must say that I am impressed. There are lots of things you can do with ww. And no, I still don't understand how those ww works. I still missed some savepoints. The repetitiveness is gone, I'm very glad about that. Difficulty is varied, but it is certainly a lot harder than the roaches level. You don't have to worry about that yet. When you've made some more levels, I'm sure you can tune the difficulty according to the other levels. There's one main thing about this level, is that I solved some of the rooms without realising it. And this level I have fewer rooms that I would use an exclamation mark. But that is probably because I still haven't solved some of the rooms. Overall, a very solid level, and I will need hints if I want to complete this one.

[If I mean simple, then it does not mean it is bad, it is just some kind of indication of the difficulty, which is like level 1, varied.]

TE: Okay, easy
1N: Solved, but I still don't know why that SW corner should be solved that way...
1N1W: Hint needed?
1N2W: Okay
3W: Very Cool!
2W: Hint please for the first part?
1W, 1S2W : Ok.
1S1W: Strange, but possible.
2S1W: This room is solvable without the roach, but is as others said, probably intended?
2S: Fun! But what use is that east pit?
1S1E: Simple, but possible.
1S2E: Okay
3E: not tested
2S1E, 1S, 2E: Hint needed ???
1N2E: Is the simple (but cool) solution intended?
1N1E: not tested
1E: Simple.

Another off topic question, have you finished my hold already? ;) What do you think of it?
