Has CaravelNet been down for several days, or is there a problem on my end? I always get the "Attempting to connect to CaravelNet..." message.

Mine has been a bit inconsistent as well, but usually I can see the list of demos/chatters if I try a couple of times. I haven't thought much of it.

Yup, it sure was my end. The more I investigated, the more I realized everything Internet-related was either broken or very slow. And apparently BackEndLib's Internet handler is more sensitive to that sort of thing than my web browser. Reset some network settings I had fiddled with because of work, and everything's good.

I just won't ask how it was that I wasn't able to 'telnet forum.caravelgames.com 80', but I was able to read and post here.

I'll answer anyway - did you have a proxy set (only) in your browser?
