I must say, I never would've thought I'd find five people who have played Touhou before I found five people who have played DROD (not on CaravelGames). Both numbers were tied at three until I saw this.
So I'm just bumping this topic to proclaim that, apparently, Japanese games do have some surprising popularity in the states.
...and that I've beaten Touhou 8 on Hard with three of the four teams (if you've played the game, you can probably guess who I didn't do it with). I'm not even going to bother with Lunatic.

×Marisa and Alice is the team I haven't beaten yet on Hard. I had to switch to Normal.
Both their attacks only shoot straight ahead. In the main levels heading up to the LOC to reap your spoils is usually too risky, and against bosses you are often forced to wait out very long Spells that you usually shoot through.
But to reach the true final boss (6-B), you still need to kill most of the enemies while making it through almost every Spell perfectly. And then come the true final boss' Last Spells. Usually, I can survive those, but when I've missed every Time Bonus and so I'm stuck fighting at 4:30am, I feel pressured and screw up.
They're impossible to use!
So, whew! Glad that's out of my system. I can't wait until I find a fifth person who's played DROD so I can rant to them about Award Ceremony. It's the furthest I got in a larrymurk hold,
still to no avail...
