Hmmm, this has been dead for a while.

where is the one place on Earth where you can walk 1 mile South, 1 mile West, and 1 mile North and end up where you started?

Well, actually, there are several places where you can do this. One is to start at the North Pole. However, you could start near the south pole, walk south to the latitude at which walking one mile east would take you all the way around the globe to where you started walking east and then walk one mile north. This will take you back to where you started. Of course, there aren't any bears at the south pole....

I'll venture a guess on the stick problem: The man was a chef and the stick was a stick of butter. Because he ate so much food with high fat content, he died of a heart attack. Bam!

Didn't I say it's not 'puzzle'? Yes I did. It's not caps sensitive by the way, and since you resurrected it, let me give you some more of that nice sequence.

What is the next word in this sequence?

Puzzle, On, Noah, Be, Puzzle, On, Otherwise, On, Edges, Better, Correctly, Questions, ...

Random guess, haha. You are of course totally correct, sir! "Desires" it is.

Someone please mod Mattcrampy up, this was a fairly hard puzzle but I'm all out of points. And he's next to post a puzzle.

Heh, I had this brainwave that the words didn't relate to each other, and the Noah in there with the puzzles seemed a bit odd. That's my favourite sort of puzzle - getting in the right headspace and have it fall out easily after that.

Here's a nasty one:

I read about an experiment recently where they took some avian cells and placed them in a solution containing C12H22O11, NaCl, NaHCO3 and KHC4H4O6. Funnily enough, adding a white fluid, a smelly brown liquid and a fine white powder, then heating the concoction, really makes it whoof. A very distinctive smell.

What were the three unknown chemicals that went into the mix?

Well...I don't know how this will fly, but it's at least original to me, so we'll see what happens.

You can get 6 for $3, 60 for $5, and 600 for $10. What is it? (And no, there's "buy n, get one (or a few hundred) free" sort of deal going on.)

No deals here, you just buy words at 1$ per letter. SIX, SIXTY and SIX HUNDRED cost 3, 5 and 10 respectively.

I suppose you all want a puzzle now? Well, here is something for you:

Fill a 4x4x4 cube with the following Tetris shape or prove that it isn't possible:
Click here to view the secret text

There are trivial solutions for the 6 other Tetris shapes but this one should be hard enough.

Since we're working in 3 dimensions, can we use both versions of the piece? I.e, can we flip it over? (They're 2 different ones in Tetris.)

Hmm, this didn't last as long as I hoped.

Of course you could rotate the piece as you like in the 3 dimensions, zex20913. Just as you could rotate it in Tetris in 2 dimensions, but not "flip" it. Only one of the 3D Tetris shapes is complex enough to distinguish itself by "flipping" - note how you can't just rotate it in 3D into its mirror image.

Time for a riddle.

Jack and Peter were on a holiday in some exotic country. They were both sunbathing on a beautiful beach and ordered drinks from a nearby bar. For some unknown (and probably highly illogical) reason the waitress wanted to kill both the men. So when she brought them their drinks she gave them both glasses containing poison. Jack gulped his drink down quickly and Peter decided to savour his and drank it slowly. Later that day Peter succumbed to the poison and died but Jack was perfectly fine. Why?

Anyway, it's Ezlo's turn now.

Okay, I remember this puzzle from a long time ago, I might not copy it word for word, but I do know the general feel to it.

Old Lady Ursula was a grand old mizer. She horded her money like there was no tomorrow. But then one day, like all people, she passed away. George the lawyer was in charge of fullfilling her will, which was a task he wasn't going to enjoy. He never particularly like Ursula, he was in charge of all her legal business before she died as well. Her will called for all her wealth to be buried with her. But out of the woodwork came her brother's family. Neglected and poor, they need money like a tree needed water. George felt sorry for them, and tried to think of a way to both fulfill the will, and give the family the money. It took him a while, but he finally figured out a way. It wasn't quick, but it worked.

How did he do it?

Well I can think of a couple of ideas:

He bought a farm with her money and buried her on the farm

He converted all of her wealth into gold dust and buried her near a river, then had the family pan the gold out of the river.
