Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle

Three short and intriguing adventure games from the makers of Heroine's Quest, spanning several genres and styles.

Deep within his dungeon, Yrolg the Necromancer is summoning a mighty demon to conquer the World. Three brave adventurers, a warrior, a rogue and a sorceress, come to his lair to disrupt this dark ritual. Your job is to stop them! Lead the heroes into traps and to a nasty demise, in Quest for Yrolg.

On the starship Quasar, the lack of shore time causes tension to run high. The latest argument has proved too much; bringing these warring characters back together will be no easy task. Control four different characters to explore the ship; instead of on puzzle solving, the game Starship Quasar focuses on their personalities and interactions.

It is time for final exams at the Magic University, and notorious slacker Larry Lotter is about to flunk all of them because he spent less time studying and more time drinking beer. His last hope is to cheat like there's no tomorrow! Using a spell to reverse time, he gets the chance to do his day over again until he passes, in the parody Larry Lotter and the Test of Time.

Errand

Sara wants to go out and play in the sunshine, but she has a few errands to complete before she does that. Nothing special, just sweeping her room, feeding the dog, that sort of thing. What could possibly go wrong?
Made in only one month, the game features two different endings, epic soundtrack by Brassfire, and shiny artwork by Bit Priest, Gameboy, and Corby. Special kudos to Bit Priest, who stuck to drawing while his city was struck by the infamous Hurricane Sandy, and managed to complete quite a lot of art in spite of the force of nature!

Infinite Monkeys

Infinite Monkeys is a quirky adventure game involving elves, zombies, a chessboard, Mittens, a zoo, a flying city, a moonbase, a time machine, and numerous other odds and ends. In the midst of all this chaos, can you stop the evil villain's plans before new year?
This unique game was written for a contest that suggested you pick one out of a couple dozen topics, by picking all listed topics at the same time. It also features an innovative interface that steps away from the low amount of verbs in adventure games, and of course monkeys!
Infinite Monkeys is also available in German.

Vector Vendetta

This is a fast-paced shooting game with retro-style vector graphics, that I've whipped up in a few days just because. It's probably the first AGS game that uses a grand total of zero sprites.

Using your mighty triangular ship, defeat the evil polygons of doom! It starts out easy, but on later levels you'll be quickly overwhelmed by swarms of enemies! Contains twenty different nasty enemies, fifteen-odd powerups, multiplayer support, three game modes, variable difficulty, and an angry boss monster.

META

META is a game adventure about an adventure game: in other words, a metagame. It contains an editor called BHT (closely resembling AGS), and a surrealistic treasure hunt called Awesmoe Quest (sic). You can edit this game while playing it, and must do so to find the treasure, assisted by Cuppit the office assistant.
The editor is an exercise of twisted logic and lateral thinking. You have to see it to believe it, but anyone involved in game design or level design should appreciate the humor. It has many controls, inventory items that kill you, and more spelling errors than you can shake a stick at. It's the weirdest thing since sliced bread.

Root of all Evil

Today is Mika's birthday, and of course this is an excellent reason to throw a party. In a town like this, inviting all your friends is easy. There is just one thing missing...
Money. Parties can be expensive, and Mika is remarkably short on money. Still, it should be possible for an enterprising photographer to make some quick cash...
Featuring pirates, private eyes, archaeologists (well, not really), a fully functional camera, and of course a crazy homeless weirdo.

Somebody asked me to explain the point of META... the game becomes somewhat easier to understand if you're familiar with AGS (Adventure Game Studio, the tool used to create all these games).

Nevertheless, it is quite playable without that. The game consists of two parts: a rather simplistic adventure game called Awesmoe Quest, and the quirky toolkit used to create said game, called BHT. You have to use this toolkit to modify certain parts of the Quest at runtime, in order to bypass it - in other words, it's a metagame, hence the name.

It's fun just to fiddle around with. Use the file menu and click 'test' to play Awesmoe Quest. Quit it to return to the editor, change some things around, and play again. See what happens. Enjoy!

META was annoying(as was Cuppit), stupid(as was Cuppit) and a waste of time(as was Cuppit).

and it should be "of" not "off" :D

This game is awesome! Very good idea for a game!

It produces a painful impression to seriously claim the game is dumb, for itīs very well done.

One word: Brilliant.
Just brilliant.
If you think it's another dumb game, think again. The bad spelling is on purpose, you know.
Actually finish the game before you say anything bad about it.
It's great!

An adventure game like no other!
You should play this if even for the first five minutes of gameplay, it's mind boggling!
Think you know AGS? Think again..

hmm..

it seems everyone disagrees with me... :D

and the bad grammer is here.

Watch the other characters act and interact off their own accord, and spin time back and forth to interfere

Ummm... where is the firecracker in Warthogs? I've done all the other exams already, and got all spells except Vanitana. (walkthrough doesn't say where firecracker is (and when can you lock Darco in? I never saw him go anywhere except classes...

Edit: Good game anyway though.

For what its worth, if you select preview from the views tab and use the arrow controls to try to select a diffrent view, META crashes with the following message:
"An error has occurred. Please contact the game author for support, as this is likely to be a scripting error and not a bug in AGS.

(ACI version 2.72.90)

in GlobalScript (line 161)

Error: AnimateButton: invalid view specified"

This happens consistently.

Nothing much.

I figured I didn't, thats why I said 'for what its worth' when I mentioned it.

I gave up and tried the walk-through.
but I think it's incomplete.

after you escape from the moon-base, the next thing it tells you to do is "Give tricorder to geek".

I DON'T HAVE A TRICORDER!!!!!

and it hasn't told me to get one ether.

I agree, the walkthrough is kind of vague at best. I made a more detailed walkthrough, but I think it's on another computer; I'll have to check.

In the meantime, you give the creature to the angel, and you look in the tube to get the tricorder when you're on the moonbase.

ok, thanks.

I sorta gave up on it, not just because I was stuck either.
but because once you've read the walk-through, I sorta spoils it.

but anyway, I Loved the randomness.
like all true adventure games, the only way to win was to try EVERYTHING!

Yeah, I guess what this needs is one of those question-and-answer walkthroughs (rather than a straight list of commands).

Hi again!

Hope it's okay to ask for help here in this topic, about Quest for Yrolg (after all, it is an other adventure game by Crystal Shard, isn't it? ;) :D). Just didn't wanted to open another topic just for this. (And didn't wanted to register to the other forum (the one with bluecuppit in it's name) just for this either.)
When it comes to the rogue, I got the zombie knight blocking the master's door, I got the gem, I know I should kill the rogue with the boulder, but I don't know how to get him to be burdened with treasure, so he always manages to get out of the way of the rock. :( I've tried leading him through the dragon's room, but he didn't take anything from there, and I couldn't find anything he'd be interested in and I could move as well.
What am I doing wrong? :~(

Thanx for any help!

Ah yes. There's something heavy that he would be interested in (and since you're a puny little imp, you can't move it yourself).

Okay. :) (But BTW I meant no offense with this, like "Lazy you!" or something, I was just trying to find the right topic where this question was not off. :))

I had the problem with this one, I thought he should take the Buddha-thing (or something else) from the dragon's lair. Yes, I know now, he won't do that beacuse of the dragon. Silly me! :blush :D
Click here to view the secret text
Instead of waiting for him behind the rock, I started following him around, so I saw him taking the statue, that's how I got it. :)
But before that I've tried to block the door leading to the pit with the zombie knight, hoping that the rogue would take the other door and end up at the pond. But he just simply passed the zombie! How's that possible? :-O
And one more thing, after that, when I started working on my trap for the sorceress, I wanted to hang the magic scroll (not the map, but the one with glowing deciphers on it) on the chain in the pit room. The imp starts to fly, but when he reaches the chain, the game crashes down and says it's most likely a scripting error.
The message:
in Room 6 script (line 124)
Error: SetCharacterFrame: invalid frame specified
Do you think you can fix this? (I've downloaded the game from the CrystalShard website and had no problems meanwhile downloading.)
Thank you!

Yeah, I've fixed that a few days ago :) if you download the game again, it'll work.

(I'm afraid saved games might not be compatible, though, but once you know how to do it it's not that hard to get back to where you were)
