The Delver's Debut - MasterGiga

Beethro stepped through the entrance of the smitemaster's guild for the first time ever. He received funny looks from all of the skilled dungeon delvers in the room. The first thing on each of their minds was the young age of the lad. They could see his back pack with a large sword partially concealed within. As one man noticed that Beethro had arrived to take on a job, he laughed aloud and continued to watch. Others around the room simply smiled at what they saw.

"Hey!" yelled the guild master. "You lost or something kid?" Beethro approached the counter with a serious face. He'd planned to show just how much he knew about dungeon monsters. "I'm here to take on a job," said Beethro. Again, the man from before laughed at Beethro. The guild master scratched his chin and thought to himself first, "Who is this kid? Is he crazy or something?" The master then said, "So, you want a job, huh? What did you have in mind, exactly?"

"I figure a dungeon would be appropriate," replied Beethro. At that moment everyone in the room laughed. The guild master picked up a piece of paper from the counter and looked it over. He glanced at Beethro just briefly, then back at the paper. "Okay, tell you what kid. You can clear out that old restaurant across the street there. I think its quite appropriate, don't you?" As Beethro heard the master's offer, he became irritated. "Funny, you seem to be underestimating me," said Beethro. "I'll take this petty job for now, but only to show you all a thing or two." Beethro walked out while the laughter continued.

As he arrived at the abandoned restaurant, he kicked the door open. After that, however, he hesitated on entering the dusty old place. All it took was a voice in his head that reminded him of the other guys' laughter. Beethro finally stepped inside and drew his sword. "I really need a sheath for this thing," mumbled Beethro.

He glanced around the dining area to see what awaited him. He, of course, assumed that the job was petty and not at all a challenge for him. At first, nothing appeared to be present in the whole room. With that in mind, he stepped further into the restaurant and stopped at the kitchen's entrance. "If anything, this will be where the mother-load is," said Beethro, lowering his voice into a whisper.
He wasted no time in slowly pushing the door open and entering the kitchen. And wouldn't you know, there set a horde of roaches. Beethro could say nothing as he stood before so many roachlings. Lucky for him, there were absolutely no queens present from what he could see.

"Okay, this is simple enough. Time to take care of this mess." Beethro proceeded to lure out a few roaches and kill them afterwards. As he repeated that same maneuver, he noticed something horrible: There were much too many roaches to make a formation that he could work with. At that rate, he'd be roach food in no time with the small space provided in the kitchen. Beethro's luck seemed to return as he spotted a larger area in the kitchen, just to his right. He carefully made his way over to the open area, killing any roaches that approached him on the way. From that point, he easily took out the rest of the horde.

With all of the roaches gone, Beethro stepped toward the exit. Suddenly, he noticed that he had missed the spider webs hanging all over the room. However, no spiders could be seen and none even attacked him yet. "What, did the spiders all get eaten by the roaches?" Beethro laughed at his own joke and began to search the kitchen some more. All of the cabinets and such had been cleared of roaches. The kitchen was a complete wreck already and held no food after the roaches got to it all.

Beethro finally exited the kitchen and returned to the dining room. He smiled as he noticed the restroom doors, down a small hallway. "I can't leave until everything's clear," said Beethro. He'd grown much more confident and rushed to open the men's door. Unexpectedly, the whole ceiling caved in just seconds after he open the door. Beethro jumped back and watched as both restrooms were crushed into rubble. He chuckled and said, "They're clear now." His first job was turning out to be better than he'd expected.

Beethro sighed with relief and walked around the dining room. He wanted to be sure nothing remained. As he approached one unexplored section of the room, he paused. His heart began to pound as he discovered a long serpent curled up before him. He was shaken and started to get a bit scared. However, his desired future as a dungeon delver and smitemaster flashed in his head. He grew a bit more determined and began to lure out the serpent. He quickly tried to think of an area to trap the serpent's head in. It took a while to find the perfect area of debris to lure the serpent into. Beethro luckily succeeded in defeating the long creature.

"That's the last of em'." Beethro walked out of the restaurant, feeling proud of himself. He glanced over at the smitemaster's guild and kept walking. "I think I just may need a bit more practice," said Beethro. "Not that I can't handle the thousands of roaches that lurk in dungeons..." He headed home for that day, without informing the guild of his success. As time passed, however, Beethro's skills developed into those of a true monster slayer. He was soon ready for anything, including a dungeon of a large variety of creatures...
