And now, the moment you've all been waiting for...
... award-time!
Below is the poll results:
Entry #1: "Golbeno's Annoying Security System" (Rabscuttle) - 8.8571428571429
Entry #2: "Golbeno's" (Watcher) - 8.1428571428571
Entry #3: "Golbeno's Security System" (DiMono) - 4.8571428571429
Entry #4: "High Security" (Doom) - 8.5714285714286
Entry #5: "Golbeno's Treasury" (Maurog) - 4.2857142857143
Entry #6: "Exterminator-proof" (TripleM) - 6.7142857142857
The winner of the poll is therefore entry #1 (Rabscuttle)! Congratulations!
I'm feeling generous today (and I've got lots of mod-points), so I've increased the amounts of rank points you will get. You now get +3 for entering and +7 for solving an entry (and +14 for making an 'unsolved' entry). Here's the list of the rank points you will receive:
DiMono: 3 = 3
Maurog: 3 = 3
TripleM: 3 = 3
Watcher: 3 = 3
Doom: 3 + 7 = 10
agaricus5: 7 + 7 = 14
Rabscuttle: 3 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 10 = 34
Post something in this thread and you will get modded.
I intend to make a compilation hold of the entries, so if any authors want to make fixes to their entries, then you can post them here (I know that at least TripleM had a fix; I withheld the author demos because of that).
Um... that's about everything, I think, although I'm almost certain I've forgotten something.
My brief comments on the holds:
Entry #1: Wow! I haven't had this much fun solving a room since... I don't know when. After looking at the room for about half an hour, I knew exactly what had to be done, but doing it was definitely not easy. I still don't know why I did the wraithwing manipulation in the beginning using TWO wraithwings, and then killed one of them almost immediately after it was done...
Entry #2: I haven't tried solving this room yet, because Rabscuttle got to it before me. I did do a screenshot of the room with everything visible (including the green doors), though.
Entry #3: Well, security systems do have backdoors sometimes, but I didn't like it. And Rabscuttle: it was impossible to cheat in this contest ("
you may use
any means necessary to solve the holds"
).
Entry #4: This room was quite fun, but I don't think it was really as devious as it could/should have been. All puzzles in it were very logical (however, that didn't stop me from having to restart it a lot of times when I realized I had made a mistake (I didn't plan ahead at all when I played this one)), so the room was like an ordinary room, only a bit more difficult.
Entry #5: I'm not sure why you all are complaining about the checkpoint. I think it was appropriately placed (since you can step on it after you've killed the roaches/spiders and still be able to solve the room). The puzzle was too easy, though.
Entry #6: Now this is about what I expected someone to make for this contest (I even made a small program that prints out the monster placement order in a room). Unfortunately, it had a trivial solution. I haven't played this one either (since Wesley beat me to it).
