I have tried to export the data from the game, but I don't know how to do it - when it asks me for a directory to save in, I can only type in numbers and letters, but no punctuation or symbols.

How do I export the data?

Weird. I tried exporting both player and hold data, and I had no problems. I could type in "c:\\programmer\\drod beta" (my DROD directory) in the directory field just fine. So I don't know what could be causing this.

Anyone else out there with this problem?

I have this same problem. There's no directory in the directory field, and I can't type a : or \\ in that field.

If I just tell it to export anyways, it says it succeeded. But I can't find the file it output. And if I export it again, it asks if I want to overwrite it, so it must be SOMEWHERE, but I can't find it.

Yeah, we're restricting file names to alphanumeric characters and spaces to have filenames that are compatible over all platforms.

That doesn't make any sense - you need punctuation to make path names; it's impossible without it. Sure, you may want to limit file names to alphanumeric characters (which I think is a bad idea but that's a different issue) - but forbidding you from entering them in directory names means that in many operating systems you just can't type in directories.

Also, it would be very, very, nice if there was some default directory and one didn't have to time in the whole path each time (and if there is an implicit one, make it explicit, since otherwise files will get lost as in Schik's message).

Oops! I just now understood the ramifications of the character filter. You're absolutely right. Relaxing the constraints on the directory/path character filter to include ':', '/' and '\\' should actaully fix all these bugs. (Sorry about that.) :eyes Are there any other essential characters I'm missing?

Underscores come immediately to mind - but since the directory field doesn't allow you to create directories, only to refer to existing ones, why not just allow any symbol string? There's no way to cause any sort of harm, or lack of portability, by typing stuff in this field.

Okay, now I'm annoyed. This worked well enough in build 16, but now, in build 17, I can't enter semicolons or backslashes. And since the installer just overwrote my data, I can't continue until this gets fixed so I can reimport my player.

This should be fixed for build 18.
