With RPG 1.3 still undergoing development, there are some bug fixes and UI improvements that are not available to players, but do not rely on 1.3 features.

This means the possibility of a 1.2.9 release is being floated. As part of that process, I'm making a 1.2.9 Windows beta build available for testing. This is a "drop-in" build, meaning you copy the executable into an existing DROD RPG installation directory. You may wish to rename your existing RPG executable beforehand, in case you want to go back.

1.2.9 is a minor update. Holds exported in 1.2.9 can be imported to any 1.2.x version, and scorepoints uploaded to CaravelNet from 1.2.9 can be validated.

What's new in 1.2.9?

In addition to all changes from 1.2.8, 1.2.9 has the following changes:

A quick update with one more fix. The update is also now provided as an installer, which is slightly more convenient, and will also update the help files to mention the player command input variables.

I've made an official 1.2.9 Windows build and patch available on the forum Downloads page.

Following validation of the fixes in these builds, I'll publish this version on other sites.

Got a new computer so downloaded the full 1.2.9 installer.

Game logic
* Quick travel now accounts for player ability to move over water and pit tiles
Can confirm having the flippers now lets fast travel path over water. Wraithwing player role can fast travel over water and pit, and water skipper player role can path travel through water. ✅

Graphics
* Fixed display problem with transparency in custom styles
I manually installed Basalt and Sandstone and downloaded 2016 Year of RPG, which uses both of these and used to consistently give me transparency issues, and now no longer does. ✅

* Fix assert caused by bad sword draw when using tunnels by room edges
Used to be able to consistently reproduce this so appears to be fully fixed. ✅

Scripting
* Fixed NPC copying cross-hold not working correctly
Copied a room containing custom character with a default script, custom tiles and custom avatar to a different hold and they all copied across correctly. ✅

* Fix expansion of command setting vars
Can confirm these variables work, but are missing from the F1 documentation. ❓

* Fixed crash related to interaction between speech subtitles and undo
I couldn't get the game to crash when undoing a newly spawned NPC out of existence while they are talking, which I think was the original cause of this? Tried a bunch of other things too and couldn't get any errors. ✅

Game Elements
* Teleport/accessory slot issues
Re-tested all the scenarios in the thread, looks good. ✅

UX
+ Add click highlighting of orb/plate connected to door
Can confirm right-clicking a door shows you what pressure plates and orbs affect it. ✅

* Remove orthosquare highlights
Yay, it's gone! ✅

* Battle results pop-up info was displayed incorrectly
Trolled the dialog in a number of ways and it no longer spills out over the screen boundaries. ✅

* Enabled High DPI
Not sure how to test this one, but the game looks fine ❓

! Plain floor types (floor, alternate, grass, road, mosaic and dirt) are now shown in right-click tooltip
Floor types all show up on a right click ✅

Other
! Updated to SDL_ttf version 2.20.1
This isn't showing the font height issues we had last time we tried this, so all appears to be working. ✅
