Treacle Stew : Level Four : 3 South (+1)

Last room on this level for me.
The left gel mother along with that oremite hot tile setup is infuriating me.
If I go lure the babies by going to the trapdoors above, I am miles away before the next spawn. If I let the mother spawn again, turn it to mud one more time and then make a run for it, I am still about 3 tiles off.

Is there some way to use the wubba here? Or a spare brain? I am stumped.

×No matter what, it seems to spawn 2 babies at (22,27) and (22,28) that we can't effectively take out since we can't turn at (22,26) due to the hot tile. Getting the pickaxe would help... if that didn't make it impossible to take out the mother, and our way to the pickaxe wasn't unavailable. (For reference, we entered this room from the east.)

What're we missing here? Is there some way to take out the babies we're missing? Are we meant to not have the left mother be gel when we cut it?

Also, in my solution, the pickaxe was used for only one thing, then I went to get my sword back.

We're still kinda stuck, since it feels like we're either too slow or the aforementioned babies at (22,27) and (22,28) completely lock us from moving forward. It doesn't matter if they're brained or not.
