Discovered as part of investigating this thread.

When player walks down the stairs and appears on stairs on Turn 0 they'll walk them, creating an endless loop. It is not possible to leave the game screen without killing the game.

Stair walking should not happen until Turn 1.

Now stairs will not trigger on turn 0. One thing to note - I know there is at least one old hold (AE or JtRH era) that used stairs on room entrances as a trap-trick.

I frankly do not care much that the trick is now broken, but the same effect can be accomplished using scripting, so if the author is still part of the community I'd be more than happy to guide them through the update of the hold to keep the trick alive.

Note: This will change how Go to level entrance scripting command works. Previously it would prevent going to level entrance on turn 0, but would treat double placement as a good chance to actually do stuff. Now it will only happen on the real turn 1, so after double placement you still have to make a move.

Can confirm in 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-16 it is not possible to trigger a level transition on turn 0, either via the go to level entrance command, or by teleporting the player on top of stairs on turn 0.
