×Runner nests spawn every 10th turn, but only if they can 'see' you. Is there anywhere they can't see you?

×The room is structured so that if you don't keep the nests from spawning at every opportunity, especially while you're near the east side, you quickly get to a situation where it's no longer possible to take advantage of the shallows. There's some careful timing/maneuvering necessary to ensure you can kill what you have no choice but to let spawn while also still being in shallows on 10th turns.

×From the image you posted it looks as though you've had several water skippers spawn by the time you get to the orb. You should be able to get to the patch of shallow water at (29,17) directly north of the orb without a single skipper spawning. Just make sure that you are on shallow water whenever the threat clock hits a multiple of 10. This may involve waiting sometimes.

When you go down to hit the orb in question, you will have to be visible for at least one spawn. But you can keep it at one spawn if you time things well. Leave the safety of shallow water just after a multiple of ten, then after hitting the orb try to make it back north to the tile just south of the shallow water as soon as possible. Remember that you only need to stand in shallow water on turns ending in 0, so feel free to pick off some water skippers before you step back on (29,17). You can also use the shallow water to change your orientation quickly if you need to, and don't forget about back swiping!

I managed to hit the orb and get back to the patch of shallow water after just one spawn cycle. I waited and killed one skipper (from the nest at (24,28)) a turn or two before jumping in the shallow water at (29,17). I only stayed there for one turn, and got out the very next turn to take on another skipper. I was able to make it to the shallow water at (23,17) shortly thereafter, making sure to use my time to kill off the remaining skippers from the spawn, so that none were left the next time I was in shallow water.
