If a bomb or other forbidden target is behind a monster, a stalwart or soldier with a dagger will instantly face the monster without moving.

Expected behavior: The stalwart will look for an alternate move. It feels as though a stalwart shouldn't be able to just "bump" a monster.

Attached is a sample hold demonstrating this behavior.

Does it have any functional consequences or is it only/mostly visual quirk? Because if it's the latter I'd like to defer it for post-5.1

It would have functional consequences with goblins, since they still treat a dagger as a thing to be avoided.

Also, guards in the same situation stay still, so I guess that should be the stalwart behavior for consistency.

Edit: Confirmed, goblins will run from the dagger if they can't kill its wielder.

Confirmed fix in 6491. The Stalwart never moved a little in the bug demo room.

I can confirm uncopy's report, but there is some weird behavior still; a stalwart on a force arrow will not turn and attack in directions that he can't actually step off if a bomb or other forbidden target is in the way. But I guess that can go into the big pile of "things to look at for next version".

I'm not certain this is a bug. Stalwarts by nature typically assume they can move forward, even if they can't.
