I just opened TSS today, and normally continued playing. For some reason the tiles have a gap between tiles now. See attached.

It looks like you toggled "Puzzle View" on. You can toggle Puzzle View on or off with the F3 key by default. Puzzle view adds those extra gaps between tiles to make it easier to count tiles. It also makes tarstuff slightly transparent and makes evil eye sight-lines and spiders visible. To get rid of this, just hit F3 again.
