In some situations, Beethro's default expression isn't his regular face. If a monster is behind you, he looks nervous, and if there's a monster next to your sword, he looks aggressive. These expressions remain in the avatar window for the duration of the turn.

However, if something speaks that turn, after speaking the avatar window always returns to the normal expression, even when it shouldn't due to one of the above conditions.

A note, if a character of type None talks, sometimes there is a single frame visible of the expression Beethro is supposed to have before returning to his normal expression, although I guess this is just a consequence of the same bug.

This should be fixed by the face widget revamp from this. Would be awesome if someone could verify it once the next 5.1.1 alpha is out.

Bad news, in 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-16, Beethro's eyes are drawn before the rest of the character portrait of a speaking character changes back to Beethro.

Just try the attached hold and wait on turn 0, no need to make a move, works every time for me and you can repeat it by pressing R.

PR. No more forehead eyes.

Can confirm this issue is fixed in 5.1.1.alpha.2020-10-18 and my example hold no longer exhibits any issues. No more eyes appearing in people's foreheads.
