I haven't a clue what to do here. This is my last Arky room and probably my last TSS room for a while. 2 things I notice, the 2 aumtliches get released when either roach gets to the centre so, (I'm not sure why though), presumably I have to keep them locked there until I get into the centre area, and the bottom roach seems extrenuous but I presume it isn't. I have no idea how to do anything useful though.

Sorry guys but I'm gonna have to wimp out and ask for a demo. I know what I have to do but even with one of the two spare aumtlichs temporarily frozen I just can't see any way to manipulate the other to the necessary square. Whatever I do I end up with the sword covering the target square to be able to escape making it impossible for the aumtlich to move there.

Sounds like you're working a little too close. Get some distance by forcing the aumtlich to turn, so you can get into position and be ready before the aumtlich arrives. The position you want is for Beethro and the aumtlich to be a knights move away and facing diagonally at each other. Waiting then causes the aumtlich to move beside Beethro (which should be the square you want it on)... and then Beethro can move in ways that cause the aumtlich to turn, until you get the right orientation.

Should look like this:

.A..       ....        \...      ..B.
.\\.  ==>  .\A.   ==>  .BA.  ==> ..A.
..B\       ..B\        ..|.      ./..
....       ....        ..|.      /...

As you can see the sword isn't involved in the escape... the escape is done by the fact that when the aumtlich is that close, it's very easy for Beethro to get behind the aumtlich and keep it turning.

Your mirrors are in the right place, but you need to position the two free aumtlich differently.

You can use the forgotten shrine to go back in time. Have you fully cleared those levels too?

Time seals work both ways you know.

So really, the problem is that you're holding the map wrong.

Use the time seal in the Forgotten Shrine to go back in time to Caught in an Eddy. From there you go North until you get to the cave where the scientist Quenna is examining some equipment. Exit that room to the East to enter the Arcane Laboratory.
