I need oil because

I searched all 3 towns but didn't notice any oil containers where I can use my empty flask on. Is it obtained by completing a certain quest?

Oh so it's in my original bag? I tried to sneak right next to Thrivaldi and jump to the other side, but end up getting caught every time. My stealth is 100, and acrobatic is 60 or something. Is my acrobatic not high enough or I just didn't land in the right spot?

Your skills are fine, but you have to be careful where you land. Plus, you'll need to make him move away from the bag first. To do that, go there in the afternoon and use the mirror on the sunlight to shine it on him. Also, I could be wrong, but if you've gotten the horse figurine, then you should be able to use it to escape.
