It's because the 'rope' counts as part of the heroine's sprite.

It's not a rope by the way.

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong place, am totally new to this forum.

I have a slightly different problem - after I give the honey to the varg, and exhaust the conversation options with Thrivaldi, nothing happens. They say "Time for human to die!" but do not move.

Is something supposed to happen?

Same. Tied up. Exhausted conversation. Can't use spells.

This feels like a dead end. I tried everything in my inventory. Then I clicked the "Rest for an hour", it said that I did and I got the "Morning" notification at the top. Still night... What am I doing wrong?

Being able to sleep us a bug but you're not stuck. Try to get untied, instead. Perhaps, there is more to that runestone.
