Thought it might be it, but never had the patience (or acrobatics) to try.

Anyway, onto the fight. Love the...ummm...Midgardian Rhapsody :D

Nope, you have seen the person. You just need to put two and two together because you would also have seen something very dangerous near him when you saw the character.
By the way, is there any other use for this?

Yeah, I did that too the first five times I tried this sequence :D

What's the rationale for being able to cast Disrupt (and then subsequently Blessing) when mana is at zero? I went with Channel too because my mana was at zero (so I thought there's no way to cast a Disrupt spell which requires 6 points?) - am I missing something in my logic process?

When you cast Channel for the first time, you get a message along the lines that now that you know the spell, you'll automatically cast from health when you're low on mana. And Mana Drain is the first spell Egther casts that you don't need to actively resist, thus a perfect opportunity to break his protection.

Oh I see, thanks! It would've been good to be able to see that info again in the spellcasting menu (when clicking on the look icon on the spell).

Although one minor point (not sure if it's a bug) - when I did the Disrupt spell, it deducted 6 health points from me, but then no health points were deducted when I cast the Blessing, Sixth Sense or Flame Aura afterwards. It did deduct 4 health points when I cast Shadow next...so not sure why nothing was deducted on some spells?

I haven't really paid attention to how the Channel spell works, though I did notice that the higher its level, the more efficient it became, and the less health was consumed. Maybe at high/max Channel some spells - perhaps spells that are cheaper or spells that are high level - will burn very little health, or even none at all? That's a big leap, I realize, but it's the only explanation I can come up with. (Unless, of course, it's a bug).

I have another problem... I just can't dodge his magical attacks! Is there some kind of timing that I need to keep? I try to move left when he attacks from the right, etc. Do I need to wait until his attack is on the way? What do I do?

Are you holding down the dodge button? (I'm assuming Rogue)

Same problem here. I can only dodge the double hand attack by ducking. Which way do I go to dodge the single hand attack of the iceball? And when do I dodge?

Slowed game down but that doesn't seem to help. :thumbsdown

Okay...

You have to duck to dodge the double-hand spell.

You dodge away from the hand he's using.

You hold down the dodge button. Timing is largely irrelevant. His attack should miss you as long as you're holding it down.

This isn't working for me. When Egther casts his second Ice Bolt, I die when I try to cast Flame Aura. I realize a lot of them are low (I've been playing with the difficulty dialed all the way down...:blush), but here are my stats just before the battle begins:

Shield = 5 (but it works in the 1st step!)
Blink = 100
Disrupt = 68
Blessing = 13
Flame Aura = 47
Shadow = 17
Arctic Wind = 65
Channel = 9 (Is this my problem?)

Health = 63/70
Mana = 65/75

As you can see, I'm not at full health and mana when the battle begins. Is there a way to unfreeze my potions prior to this point?

BTW, I noticed that when I first meet my doppelganger that there is a couple pauses by her (before she speaks to me) where I could conceivably take some kind of action, and again before I enter the portal the first time. Is there something I need to do here before going through it?

I think you have enough hp, so I'm a bit puzzled. What is your stamina at?

You can get two potions - first one is from Aurvy when you leave the pit, second one is

I edited my prior post with some more stats...like my Channel, etc. My Stamina is 80/80 before the fight starts....

Channel shouldn't take away 63 hit points. Otherwise you would have died the first time you cast it.

Please send me a saved game and I'll see if Radiant can take a look.

Saved games are located in C:\Users\<User name>\Saved Games\Heroine's Quest 1.2 (if you're using v1.2)\

Same problem as a sorcerer here, except there is no second ice bolt, he just goes "for eternal ice!' and then it's just a snow storm and I just can't figure out what to do (my fire aura is 100 and I did all the others spells ok).

Fizzii: Yes, I am playing v1.1...and, as Profion said in the post between yours and mine, this is exactly what I'm experiencing. Not an Ice Bolt (I guess), but "eternal ice", then a white-out. When I cast the Flame Aura to counteract, Egther says I have failed and I'm frozen solid.

The snowstorm is counteracted by using Sixth Sense. Same as when you returned from Chapter 2.

So the end fight can differ from one sorceress to the next? In other words, if my sorceress isn't a hybrid and your sorceress isn't either, shouldn't the fight (which is essentially just a puzzle) play out the same way?

At any rate, thank you Spiffo for that hint. It got me through the fight. So the way the duel worked for me is different than what v_k wrote several posts back, and yet we're both sorceresses (socerii?). v_k said:

Where v_k faced a second Ice Bolt, I faced Eternal Ice. Just curious, but why the difference?

Perhaps a stupid question for my Rogue game:
When I enter the frozen door of Eghbert I get the text that the daggers are frozen in their sheaths and I can only dodge - however in the display where usually in a fight the weapons and the arrows for dogding are displayed, in that fight there are only empty boxes?
I did drink the hot water before the door but once the first attack hits my rogue it is over.

If I did forget something silly again that is not really problematic - in this game I had only aspired to get the Lokis Trickster achievement and that did trigger before entering the castle so I intend to start a new game anyway :2pirate
