Remember that time this thread was about posting links?

That was awesome.

On an unrelated note, has anyone linked Homestuck yet? I know the internets already KNOW of it, but.

Yeah... those were good times. Sorry, I just enjoy "discussion".

Here's a link I posted in the Zelda discussion a day or two ago. They have come up with some really good music, especially since they recently had a fundraiser and hired a real orchestra to do some work with.

Here is a short series of articles about programming software synthesizers. The author uses Java for the examples.

Citizen! Are you ready to Die2Nite?

A browser game where you join a town with 39 strangers and try to survive as long as possible against endless zombies. The game does a good job of evoking a sense of despair since all towns are doomed to be overrun sooner or later. But in truth, the game is often less about surviving the zombie onslaught than it is about getting all the citizens of your town to work together towards a common goal.

Similar to many other browser games, it's free to play but paying players get many benefits, such as increased item drops and the ability to choose a specific town when starting a new life. The time commitment is pretty low, so you can play successfully even if you only log on for about 20 minutes a day (although you have to be inside town at midnight or the zombies will eat you).

Christian Boyer has created a site about a pen and paper puzzle called Morpion Solitaire. The puzzle had a long-standing unbroken record found with pen and paper (in the 70's) that was only recently improved with a computer program.

http://www.morpionsolitaire.com/

Note that the word morpion in French also means something completely different, namely pubic lice. Please keep this unfortunate synonym in mind if you try a web search for the word.

He has also made a site about multimagic squares. There are some open problems with prizes.

http://www.multimagie.com/

Both pages have an English language version. There are also French versions and a German one for the latter.

Hey, so what did you guys all do last weekend? I was being awesome.

Yes it's blatant self-promotion, but it's also a link, and thus valid ;)

Also, since the fifth song has really washed out audio, here's a much better recording of it. I was low harmony on songs 5 and 6.

What can I say? This is probably one of the most touching movies I've ever seen, and I'm not even a big fan of anime most of the time. I highly recommend it.

This is a fairly amusing, fairly popular, and really well-done music video as a review for a shirt. Yes, someone went to all that work for a shirt.

That's excellent! First clip did have sound issues but congrats... Just a shame they didn't turn the tv off. 95% of the people I know are in bands but your style seems a lot more unpretentious and a fun night :)

Welcome to erm... Denmark.
Used to watch "Bamse og Kylling" every evening on one of the 2 channels available back then. Bamse is a bear living in a cabin in forest clearing and Kylling is a chicken who turns up most episodes and is his best mate. They also had live musicians star probably once a month (mostly Danish children songs + Woodstock style singers for some reason).

Anyway, this is quite a surreal remix:

(plus one of my favourite tracks of music from Jan Jelinek, but for some people it might just be bleeps & fart noises... :D)

And while I'm at it - here's a pretty good analysis of Christmas in comic form, from the viewpoint of a several millennia old mythical monster (aka "The Sphinx") that had to get a christmas present for her only friend in current times... :)

I'll admit it freely: I have a major crush on that sphinx. (Subnormality is, in general, full of way too many words, and also consistently really entertaining and/or thought-provoking.)
