I just felt he was over-reacting. Of course, the edit didn't help.
I also suck at expressing myself.

Ummm, for one thing, the edit was about my link, not the Linux poem. And I wasn't aiming that rant at the poem, I thought it was funny, but it reminded me of other things I have read that I really didn't like, so I was talking about that. Sorry if it wasn't clear, I'll go edit my post to make it more understandable.

EDIT: There, that better? I figured you might as well hear the backstory.

Well, there's zealots on every of the numerous sides of the fence. Ignoring them is probably the mostest bestest way to stay sane...

As for me, I use the best tool for the job - I use Windows on my desktop because I use it mainly for playing games (and Firefox and other open source apps run on it just fine), but I'd never even think of running a Windows server; all that random clicking around to configure things is bound to cause problems... :)

Just my .02 EYPO.

Obligatory link: If you've ever had less problems with viruses than with the so-called antidotes, you'd probably feel similar.

(Warning - contains cartoon violence and non-cartoon swearing...)

A neat animation that happens to be some guy's thesis for his Masters degree in Animation.

The end is actually quite moving. :~(

I was wondering, does anyone else think this thread should be stickied? It gets used so often and it would cut down slightly on the threads on the board.

The Music Video for The Killers' Bones

If you need more reason other than it being a good song, it's the first music video Tim Burton's directed.

Green Day & U2 - The Saints Are Coming

It's an amazing song done by two great groups, and all of the proceeds from buying the single help out New Orleans. I bought the single on iTunes (Which I've meant to praise recently), so if you get a chance to, buy it.

Project Chaos is finished!

In case you didn't know, Project Chaos is a Sonic 3 & Knuckles remix project. They ended up doing quite well, and I would heartily recommend downloading the set if you like the game's music at all.

The best web-comic ever. Seriously. It's like reading a manga online! With currently 925 pages, and 9 chapters! It is suposed to be comedy, and each page stood alone, until later the creators decided to make it continuous. But there's still the comedy, and the romance.

Here's a link to page #1

Enjoy! I've been reading since about page 550 or something. I rapidly caught up, and now I just finished reading the most recent page, #926. (This loading might take a while, depending on your computer.)

Megatokyo is a well-known whipping boy in the webcomics industry, despite its incredible and inspiring success. The creator is often seen as self-depreciating to a fault, and there's some who are unhappy with the pace of the storytelling.

Not to take away from the comic, you understand, because these are two awesome links in themselves, and I think everyone in the industry's happy that someone's made it big, because it suggests that it's possible to make it big by posting comics on the intertron.

(While the criticism of Megatokyo is two years old, which is ancient in Internet time, I see he still hasn't updated his cast list.)

While I could probably post a smattering of webcomic links here, I'll just post a link to my links page that contains said links:

http://leak.no-ip.org/Links/

(Did I mention links? ;))

I heartily recommend Real Life Comics, Sinfest, Beaver & Steve, Free Fall, Penny Arcade, Simulated Comic Product, Bob The Angry Flower, VG Cats and Perry Bible Fellowship if you're just after a laugh, and Wapsi Square, Girl Genius, Polymer City Chronicles, Suburban Jungle, Hellbound and Zebra Girl if you're after a longer story.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned it yet, but if you're after a funny webcomic that still tells a coherent story, I'd strongly recommend Sluggy Freelance. It starts off as a daily funny, then gradually turns into an epic saga involving aliens, vampires, crazy ninja girls, a Dimension of Pain, a Dimension of Lame, a gigantic, evil corporation, Father Christmas and a homicidal rabbit known only as "Bun-Bun". And those are just the major elements. Did I mention that the story is actually coherent?

Pinch me, someone. Did I just read "sluggy freelance" and "coherent" in the same post? O:-

Also, since we're mentioning webcomics: schlockmercenary.com is a daily science fiction strip about people who are licensed to perform heroic acts of violence for money. Or, as it says in the company charter, they hurt people and break things.

Ever wondered what the voiceover guy from the perpetually closing down warehouse ads does on his day off?

Well, it depends. Sometimes he goes shopping in the city, sometimes to the amusement park, and sometimes he goes to voice training. He's getting pretty good.
