Well, it's taken me a while and a lot of procrastination, but my newest hold, the Puzzle Catacombs, is finally ready for testing. It's an AE hold, and it's just a collection of puzzles without any story really.

Enjoy!

This is a pretty good little hold. And pretty tough.

Assuming the rooms you want to remove one of are 1N1W and 2N1W, I don't really see any reason they couldn't both be left in. But since you asked, I like 1N1W better.

I haven't figured out 1W or 1S1E yet.

Well, I decided to just keep both of them, though I've been considering swapping their positions because I think 1N1W is also the harder one (but I don't want to confuse anyone by doing that).

3S1W - I killed the roaches first, before I entered the bottom half or northeast part of the room. Is that right?

Feel free to ask if you need any help.

I'll update the hold shortly.New version in the first post.

I haven't even beaten the entrance, but I cheated and edited to look ahead, I really like it and I'm always intrigued by a nice challenge like you offer.

Pheuw! I just want to say that 1W wouldn't have been ashamed to be placed in Beethro's Techer. It was the hardest room I've played so far in the hold (I do have 1S1E left), but also the room I enjoyed the most :D

I guess I personally don't like using one eye mothers just because it looks kind of odd (though that is not a very good reason), and I personally don't consider the bigger tar blob size a problem if there is enough room and it doesn't complicate things too much (but that's just my take). Also, is there a particular reason you think the arrow should be removed?

The only thing the arrow achived for me was to make the room a bit messier. I found it very easy to run up there and place a baby on the arrow.

I've finally played this hold through too. A very nice varied collection of tricky AE puzzles, requiring precise use of brained and unbrained monster movement rules and movement order (I'm glad I didn't play this in AE). I'd rate the overall difficulty around 7 brains, but wonder how much higher the average rating would have been back in the heyday of AE...

Interesting. For 1N1W I just cut out a trap for the serpent. The tar didn't kill it.

I decided to give this hold a try. I apparently absolutely suck at DROD in whole, so I can't even beat the entrance room. I don't know how anybody else does it, but I'm still trying.

Since I want to play through this hold, I have resolved not to run to the editor.

All other players (who have beaten the entrance) have at least two years of experience which you haven't. You don't suck at DROD, but the Rabbit, BoyBlue and me have had a looong time to learn :)

Yeah, you're probably right. It just seems like the entrance's solution is obvious, but it's not.

From the one room I see, though, it looks like a great hold so far.

Alright, a new version is now attached at the top, including fixes, more checkpoints, and a second challenge room. I've also switched 1N1W and 2N1W, so the room which I consider to be the harder one is now further from the entrance.

Ok. Seriously not funny to suround yourself by tar in 1S1E. 2S1E is voulentary, but it's so far for the tar to travel :( And once again the suround yourself by tar aspect.

A solution to that would be a toggable orb, with a door encircling it, and Beethro, when he strikes the orb. I relize this will give clues as how to solve the room, but in my opinion it would be worth it :)

A question for the other testers: Did you like 1N?

2S: Hmm... No, please! I know how to solve rooms like this, but if I didn't this room could potentially be very frustrating. But what do I know :) It would be better with the opinion of someone who encounters a room like this for the first time.

Okay, right now I'm feeling the way I'd feel trying to solve a backswiping puzzle without knowing I can use diagonal movement keys.
Obviously there's something I'm missing here about brained snake movement?

At least that's what the last few hours of frustration are telling me..

Edit: 12 Archivist, cheer up. At least you aren't like me, the entrance is the *only* room I could solve. :/

The rule you might not know about is that a serpent will act as if unbrained if it's impossible to get to you. Normaly it doesn't take into consideration if another monster blocks it from reaching you, but if a serpents body blocks it it will walk as if unbrained.
