Alright, so I decided to re-do this, since the Forum Game version was left in the dust. This contest is for TCB.

Story: The DAA was in a rather intimidating lack of architects. Being endangered, the DAA decide to ask some citizens for specific puzzle rooms to keep the intruders at bay. However, to make sure the best ideas get through, they make a contest to see who can get the best ideas, eliminating the worst ones for each round and taking the winner's idea to lock off the invaders.

Here's a rules recap for those who forgot or didn't play the other versions:

1. I'll give 1 week for those who wish to register as contestants or judges. If I need more players (at least 6) and judges (at least 1), I'll give more time to register.
2. When that time is over, I'll announce a set of guidelines or a simple theme, and you must make a room using that theme. You have 2 weeks to get this done. If you can't get it done in that time, you'll be removed from the contest.
3. After that, I and the judges will grade the rooms with the following criteria: Difficulty (Is it the right difficulty, too hard, too easy?), Theme (Did you follow the theme?) and Look (Does it look good? *You don't need scenery to achieve this, if the layout is well designed and looks good on the map, you might get points.)
4. After this, the player with the lowest score will be kicked out of the competition.
5. The whole thing goes on until there's only one person. After this, the top 3 players will challenge me for extra mod points. Only the judges will grade. This time around, the 1st place contestant will select the theme. If one of them wins, they gain 1 bonus mod. If I win, they gain no bonus points. Judges, judge fair, don't cheat so the players can win.

Of course, if I get enough input on not doing this 'challenge' event, I won't.

The ranks will be as such:

-1st Place: 5 points (+1 bonus point)
-2nd Place: 4 points (+1 bonus point)
-3rd Place: 3 points (+1 bonus point)

So... register! (negative 783 weeks, 6 days until end of that time (unless I don't get many players.).)

Whoa... lots of judges here... I do need contestants too, though, or the judges - and this contest - have no purpose anymore! You still have until next Tuesday to register.

This looks pretty cool. I will join and see what I can do.

Also, how hard should it be? Obviously, a LarryMurk or Doom style room will be the most challenging, but since we want to solve these things, we have to go down. What level challenge should it be?

Alright, 4 people isn't so bad. Here's the theme:

-Blocking aumtlich rays with mirrors or swords.
-Use tarstuff.
-Briars must be involved somewhere in the level.

A simple one to start with. You have until May 1st!

Am I limited to a single room or can I use more than a single room? I haven't had any very brilliant ideas lately, so I was just going to use the one idea I had in a single room hold.

Also, can I use the same hold for different challenges? All I would have to do is make the new level be the starting level of the hold. This would be more memory efficient.

Neather: Why would you want to put the room in your hold? I might make a compilation, but I doubt it'll get released. If it does, though, I'll remove your entries.

12th Archivist: No, don't use rooms from another level. Try to make a new one. Maybe it'll be as great as the other one! Also, one room only. However, you can use one hold for all of the challenges. As long as you only have one room for each level.

I have been particularly busy this week while hoping I could get the entry done over the weekend, only to be informed that I must go on a business trip to Oregon. I have a lot of work to do there, too, so I can't bring my laptop just so I can play DROD while over there.

Ok... since Neather2 and 12th Archivist aren't posting anything for now, we'll have to do with these two entries.

However, before we judge, I'd like to suggest something:
We could make 2 1-vs-1 rounds (the first one being lops and hyper, the second being Neather2 and 12th), and the winners of the rounds are competing for final place. Also, the losers will compete for the consolation prize.

What do you say?

(EDIT: In that time, I'll try to solve lopsidation's entry. Blasted upper two aumtlich... Nope, solved it after all.)
