I had this idea when reading
this topic: The user can press a key, or click a button, in order to create a scroll where they are standing. The scroll image would appear, and they could type directly into it, also being able to edit it later. It would either appear as a usual scroll, or possibly in another colour to differentiate it.
Use is, with the game requiring so much planning, you might at one point want to mark a place as somewhere to go once you have gained an item, or done something else. I for one would probably forgotten by the time I had returned, but having a scroll sat there to remind me what I was about to do would be very useful in that situation. And unlike analogue paper, it cannot become lost in the horrifying mess that is my desk.
Possibly another thought could be to have these scrolls clickable on the map, to read them without having to journey to them, or perhaps some other way of managing what scrolls you have lying around, and where they are.
Well, I think it could be useful, and probably not too labour-intensive either.
