icon No "Connect to CaravelNet" box in JtRH (0)  
I hope I'm posting this to the correct forum. I have no "Connect to CaravelNet" checkbox, nor a "CaravelNet Key" box in the Settings screen in JtRH??? I have attached an image of the screen.

In The City Beneath, I have both boxes. Has anyone else experienced this, or is this just a flaw in the game I purchased? (I have a CaravelNet membership.)

Where did you purchase JtRH from?

I believe there was a site that did a deal where they sold JtRH and got some of the money themselves, but in return they had to sell a version with CaravelNet disabled, which appears to be the version you have. I can't remember the details though I'm afraid...

I purchased JtRH through ArcadeTown via BMT Micro. http://www.arcadetown.com). I sure hope this isn't a bogus site. :( Does anyone have any information on purchasing through ArcadeTown?

IIRC the version sold at ArcadeTown explicitely comes without CaravelNet functionality. But I'm pretty sure someone from the powers that be Caravel Games will hook you up with a CaravelNet-enabled version if you ask them at support@caravelgames.com

Thanks for the heads-up on ArcadeTown. I plan to complain to them about what I consider to be an unethical practice. I will take your suggestion and contact the "powers that be," and beg for mercy...

But I must say I found the current search engine very enjoyable and invaluable. It's easy to find things, and I don't need to use horrible mathematical formulas to express what I want (looking at you, google :?).

Iirc, anyone with an Arcade Town build should be able to apply the latest JtRH patch from our site over their AT build and get CaravelNet to work. (And you get the latest improvements and bug fixes too.)

Oh, hmm...<checks>...I think you have to remove the "_at" suffix from the directory name so the patch will work. (I think that means the folder should be called "DROD - Journey to Rooted Hold"). You probably need to rename the directory back after patching to keep the shortcut links working.

Thank you, that solved the problem. I now have the "connect" and the "key" boxes.

And thanks to all who contributed to the information that led to the solution.
